Rodney Christian McGruder (born July 29, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

College career
McGruder, a 6'4" shooting guard from Landover, Maryland, was an AAU teammate of Michael Beasley's and followed Beasley's route to Kansas State to play for coach Frank Martin. McGruder appeared for three seasons with the Wildcats. McGruder led the Wildcats to third place in the Big 12 Conference as a sophomore in 2010-11. McGruder averaged 11.1 points and a team-best 5.9 rebounds per game.
McGruder's rookie season saw him score at 15.8 per game and finished second in the All-Big 12 with a game.
McGruder, a senior in 2012-2013, was a preseason All-Big 12 pick. On February 27, 2013, he was also ranked as a top 30 finalist for the Naismith College Player of the Year. McGruder led the Wildcats to a first-place finish in the Big XII during his senior season.
Professional career
McGruder was drafted undrafted in the 2013 NBA draft and the Charlotte Bobcats for the Las Vegas Summer League and the Orlando Bobcats. He signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder on September 27, 2013. Nonetheless, he was later waived by the Thunder on October 25, 2013.
McGruder joined Atomer SE of Hungary in November 2013 for the 2013–14 season. He averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game in 29 league games for Atomerm.
McGruder joined the Golden State Warriors in the 2014 NBA Summer League in July 2014. He signed with the Boston Celtics on September 29, 2014. Nevertheless, the Celtics suspended him on October 27, 2014. He was acquired by the Maine Red Claws as an affiliate player four days later. He was suspended by the Red Claws on March 26, 2015, after appearing in 26 games.
McGruder was purchased by the Sioux Falls Skyforce on March 29, 2015.
McGruder joined the Miami Heat for the 2015 NBA Summer League in July 2015. He was reacquired by the Skyforce on November 2, 2015. He was a contributor to the Skyforce's best 40-ten record in 2015–16, and he went on to help the team win the league championship by defeating the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
McGruder re-joined the Miami Heat in the 2016 NBA Summer League in July 2016. He agreed to a three-year, partially guaranteed deal with the Heat on July 7. He made his NBA debut against the Orlando Magic on October 26, 2016. In a 108-96 victory, he had six points, three rebounds, and two steals in a less than 24 minutes off the bench. He scored a season-high 15 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves on February 6, 2017.
McGruder was banned from work indefinitely with a stress fracture in his left leg on October 12, 2017. Since playing two games for the Sioux Falls Skyforce just days before, he made his season debut against the Philadelphia 76ers on February 27, 2018.

McGruder was traded with a 2022 second-round draft pick from the Brooklyn Nets to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Bol Bol on January 10, 2022. However, the trade was void on January 13, 2022, after Bol failed his physical fitness, resulting in McGruder's return to the Pistons.
