Rodney L Davis Life

Rodney Lee Davis (born January 5, 1970) is an American politician who has served as the United States Representative in Illinois' 13th congressional district since 2013.

Davis, a Republican, won re-election in 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Early life and education

Davis was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He earned a degree in political science from Millikin University in 1992.

Personal life

Davis and his partner Shannon married in 1995 and now live in Taylorville, Illinois. They have three children.

Davis coached Taylorville Junior Football and is a member of the Taylorville Optimist Club and serves on the board of directors of the Christian County Senior Center. In the Congressional Baseball Game, he plays catcher for the Republican team.

Davis was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 5, 2020.

Early political career

He lost a bid for the state legislature in 1996. Davis supervised Illinois Congressman John Shimkus' first reelection bid in 1998. After a fruitful campaign, he accepted a seat on Shimkus' legislative staff.

Davis lost his bid for mayor of Taylorville, Illinois, in 2000. When running for Congress, Davis served as Shimkus' projects manager.
