Robson de Souza (born 25 January 1984), more commonly known as Robinho is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir.In 1999, at 15 years of age, Robinho was picked by Brazil legend Pelé as his heir apparent and, in 2002, went on to lead Santos FC to their first Campeonato Brasileiro title since Pelé himself played for the club.
Since then, he has won a second title with Santos and two more with Spanish club Real Madrid.

Club career
Robinho was born in So Vicente, So Paulo, Brazil. Robinho did a lot of futsal in his youth, which was responsible for his growing his dribbling and acceleration skills. In 2002, he began his first professional contract with Santos at the age of 18. Santos took the 2002 Campeonato Brasileiro after making 24 appearances in his debut season and scoring one goal. He reached the final of the 2003 Copa Libertadores with Santos but lost in the final to Boca Juniors. Robinho scored 21 goals in 37 games in 2004 and helped Santos take their second Campeonato Brasileiro title.
Robinho's form had attracted the attention of several European clubs in the summer of 2004, but Santos retained him after the Brazilian club turned down all bids. His form suffered in the 2005 season, but Marina da Silva Souza, his mother, was kidnapped by gunmen at her Praia Grande home on November 6th; she was released unharmed six weeks later after a ransom was paid.
Robinho scored nine goals in 12 league games, and his reputation continued to grow as his ability became more and more apparent to European football's powers. Santos began to realize that it would be becoming increasingly difficult to hold on to their main character. Real Madrid, the Spanish king, also agreed to pay Robinho a percentage equal to 60% of the buyout clause in his deal with Santos (€24 million).

He had publicly stated that he would play every other game in Manchester City, and that because of the forthcoming World Cup, he wanted to play every game, so he returned to Brazil with Santos after losing a transfer to So Paulo. Robinho scored a backheel against So Paulo, a former Peixe supporter, with five minutes to spare, resulting in a 2–1 victory for the Peixe. Robinho helped Santos win the Copa Brasil in the last match of his loan agreement on August 4th. Robinho and his Santos teammates Alex and Diego were selected for the 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup in July 2003. Robinho was selected in Brazil's squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. He was a member of the Brazil team that defeated the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa in 2009. Brazil defeated the United States 3–2 in the final to win the tournament, with the Brazilian team defeating the United States 3–2. He appeared in every game in the competition.
Robinho was named in Brazil's squad for the 2010 World Cup, where he competed with Luis Fabiano in attack. Brazil defeated Chile 3–0 in the second round, sending him to the quarterfinals.
