Mathieu Flamini Career

Club career

Flamini, a native of Marseille, was a youth team member for his hometown professional club Marseille. In a 1–0 victory over Toulouse on December 20, 2003, he made his senior debut for the team. He was a hardworking midfielder for the team and appeared 14 times for the team. However, it was his performances in Marseille's UEFA Cup campaign that drew his notice in the football world, especially the 2–0 semi-final victory over Newcastle United that drew him to the attention of the football world. He then started in the final in Gothenburg, a match that Valencia, a Spanish club Valencia, lost 2–0. Marseille was later unable to guarantee him a long-term professional deal due to his age, however.

Flamini signed a professional deal with Arsenal in July, ending Marseille's long-term senior contract bid, which he had already verbally agreed to. "This is a beautiful treason," José Anigo, the event's boss, said. "He used me." Arsenal was eventually ordered by the Dispute Resolution Chamber of FIFA to pay Marseille a €480,000.

Flamini made his Arsenal debut in the 1–4 victory over Everton on August 15, 2004. He was mostly used as a utility player in his first season, starting only nine games but being used as a substitute in 12. He was drafted in for a number of injured players, but he was unable to secure a first team spot in his favoured position this season. In a 7-0 home victory over Everton on May 11, he scored the team's seventh goal and scoring his first goal in the team's traditional red and white kit at Highbury.

Flamini scored the winning goal against Dinamo Zagreb in the qualifying stages of the UEFA Champions League during the 2006–07 season. In the Premier League, he also scored important goals against Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers, and Liverpool. Despite these critical goals, however, he remained dissatisfied with his "utility player" role at the club, and in April 2007, he said he would most likely leave Arsenal in the summer. Flamini, on the other hand, turned down a $3 million move to Birmingham City and stayed with the company.

The absence of Gilberto Silva and Abou Diaby meant that Flamini was unable to play in central midfield for Arsenal's first match of the 2007–08 Premier League season. During Arsenal's 2007–08 season, he built a strong relationship with Cesc Fàbregas, retaining Gilberto out of the starting lineup with performances that have been widely regarded by Arsenal supporters as a major improvement over those from his previous seasons at the club. Flamini had a generally positive relationship with Arsenal's fans, who provided him with his own song, as well as an extension of the British television show The Sweeney. In Arsenal's 3–0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday, he scored an amazing 25-yard (23 m) strike. He was playing in a UEFA Champions League match in which Arsenal was defeated by English rival Liverpool on April 8, 2008. He was injured during the game, and it was his last game for Arsenal. In an interview, he said he was still a Arsenal fan and that he has no bad feelings about the club: "Arsenal are in my heart and will be in my heart for ever." "I will always be an Arsenal fan, and leaving was not easy."

On May 5, 2008, Flamini agreed to a Milan deal. Flamini wore the number 84 on his shirt to represent his year of birth.

In a 2–1 loss to Bologna on August 30, he made his Serie A debut on August 30, 2008. Flamini did not like the number of starts or appearances for the Italian team at first, and Milan was regarded as a utility player. Nevertheless, injuries to other players as well as his regular good form helped him to firmly establish a San Siro starting position. Gianluca Zambrotta was moved to the left flank to assist Milan in finding a strong defense and a lack of a fit, consistent and reliable right back, assisting the Flamini's development as a tenacious right back. Milan re-deployed him as a defensive midfielder after stating that his favorite position is in the midfield.

Due to the excellent form of club captain Massimo Ambrosini, Flamini's playing time came to a halt near the end of the 2009-2010 season. Flamini was a key player of the team that would win its 18th scudetto in the following season, playing numerous games as starter and scoring two goals against Bari and Bologna, respectively. He injured himself in a pre-season training session, suffering a serious knee injury that necessitated an operation after being on a rotation program in the 2010–11 season. Flamini spent the entire 2011–12 season out.

Following the player's termination of his deal, the club announced that he had resigned, and the player was designated as a free agent on June 20, 2012. Flamini and Adriano Galliani reached a new deal for a one-year deal, despite the Frenchman taking a significant reduction in his salary. In a 2–2 draw against Fiorentina on April 7, 2013, Flamini scored his first goal of the season and Milan's second of the season.

Flamini began training with Arsenal in early August, with the intention of "solely maintain fitness" with the intention of moving to a club in England. With rumors that he will soon sign for Arsenal, immediately it sparked media interest, but some journalists denied this, pointing out that many other ex-Arsenal players had returned to train with Arsenal, including club legends Robert Pires and Thierry Henry.

Flamini, on the other hand, did indeed sign for Arsenal on August 29th, marking Arsenal's second summer acquisition since Yaya Sanogo. On September 1st, he made his return to Emirates Stadium against Tottenham Hotspur, helping the team win by 1–0. Both analysts and fans alike applauded his signing, and Arsenal's European games since, with several referring to his signing and his aggressive style of play as one of Arsenal's key reasons for Arsenal's good early season form. On Monday, he scored his first goal in his second spell at Arsenal, the second in a 0–3 away victory over Cardiff City. In addition, he scored in a crucial 1–1 draw against Manchester City after a string of poor results from Arsenal, assisting the club in resurgenting and winning a potential top-four league finish. Flamini expressed his desire to win the Cup at the start of Arsenal's 2013–14 FA Cup campaign, although he was left out of the team's roster when Arsenal defeated Arsenal in the 2005 FA Cup Final. Arsenal went on to win the tournament, but Flamini was an unused substitute in the Final, and he was still on the substitutes' bench as Arsenal continued their quest to become FA Cup champions again in 2015.

Flamini made his first appearance of the 2015-2016 season in a third round match against Tottenham Hotspur on September 23, 2015. With a Man of the Match debut, he scored both of Arsenal's goals.

On September 8, 2016, Flamini became a free agent for Crystal Palace. He was released by the club at the end of the 2016–17 season.

Flamini signed for Getafe on a free transfer on February 2nd. He made eight appearances in La Liga before leaving the club at the end of the season.

Flamini regained Getafe on December 18, 2018.

International career

After Jérémy Toulalan was ruled out due to illness, Flamini accepted his first call up to France by coach Raymond Domenech for a friendly against Argentina at the Stade de France on February 7, 2007, Flamini accepted his first call up to France. On November 16, 2007, he made his international debut as a replacement in a friendly against Morocco.

Business career

Flamini is a partner of GF Biochemicals, the world's largest producer of levulinic acid and derivatives. “We founded GFBiochemicals with the intention of providing environmentally friendly alternatives to oil-based products,” he said. Levulinic acid, woodchips, or bark powders can be used in plastics, solvents, fuels, and pharmaceutical applications. The US Department of Energy has classified levulinic acid as one of the 12 substances that can help unlock a "greener" world. Flamini has identified China and Brazil as potential new markets for expansion in addition to GFBiochemicals' established presence in the Netherlands and Italy headquarters. GFBiochemicals, the nation's largest manufacturer of levulinic acid derivatives, is the sole beneficiary of downstream integration in 2016. Segitis was previously owned by Sabic, DSM, and Kosla Ventures, among other companies, and has invested in R&D over the past decade. GFBiochemicals reported in 2017 that it would produce a cellulosic biorefinery in the United States in partnership with biotech firm American Process. Flamini was also a member of the BIOCIRCE (Bioeconomy in the Circular Economy), Europe's first master's degree dedicated to supporting bioeconomy education. It was launched in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo, a bioplastics manufacturer, and the Universities of Naples, Torino, Milano Bicocca, and Bologna. Flamini co-founded The BioJournal, the world's first e-magazine dedicated entirely to the biosphere and eco-sustainability, and was directed by Italian environmental journalist Mario Bonaccorso. Flamini is also a member of the Environmental Excellence Committee for the nomination of Paris as the site for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Flamini was selected one of People of the Year by the NME in 2015.
