Cod is the curry of the curry family, winning the nation's most popular 'national dish,' beating a chicken tikka masala, roast dinner, full English, and shepherd's pie...but does everyone agree?

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 4, 2024
Since its 23-year reign, fish and chips have officially regained the throne of Britain's most popular 'national dish, dethroning Chicken tikka masala. The popular Indian takeaway dish, which is thought to have been created in Glasgow in the 1970s by Pakistani chef Ali Ahmed, regularly comes out in the top of the charts. The mild curry was branded by former Foreign Secretary Robin Cook in 2001 as a true British national dish.'

KGB recruited former researcher for Tony Benn to target Margaret Thatcher with a 'fake news' campaign

Margaret Thatcher (left) was vilified by the KGB, who orchestrated a 'fake news' movement to destabilize her premiership. Cynthia Roberts (pictured right), who had also worked as a researcher for Tony Benn and Robin Cook, was employed by Soviet intelligence to disseminate anti-Thatcher disinformation against politicians, influential pressure groups, and voters. Gwendolene Stuart, a former apolitical working class woman, recalled how she had been 'betrayed' by the Conservatives after her husband lost his career, a colleague died in the Falklands war, and she saw riot police beating striking police.

The creator of chicken tikka masala, 'Super Ali' Aslam, is among the many tributes for Glasgow restaurateur 'Super Ali' Aslam

Ali Ahmed Aslam, the 77-year-old entrepreneur of the Chicken tikka masala, died this week. He has been pledged to remain as Britain's most popular chef. Following the death of the restaurateur who was responsible for opening Glasgow's renowned Shish Mahal restaurant and inventing Britain's popular chicken tikka masala in the early 1970s, tributes have pour in. On Monday, the 77-year-old died, with his funeral taking place at Glasgow Central Mosque the next day. Mr Aslam, who is best known locally as 'Mr Ali,' followed in the footsteps of his father Noor Mohammed, who founded Glasgow's Indian restaurant Green Gates in 1959.
