Robert Meyer Burnett Career

Career

Burnett has been working in Hollywood since 1989, creating a variety of media, physical media special features, television, and motion pictures.

He began working as a "predator," a producer-editor for television promotions, starting in the late 1990s. Burnett, who began working with Star Wars fan film director Kevin Rubio, has produced scores of ads for the Kids WB channel block. He was recruited full-time by NBC in December 1999, resulting in over 100 spots for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. It was the first time NBC televised the games on three networks, including NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC. Since the Olympics were shown on television, he continued creating spots for the 2000-2001 Prime Time season, including designing and even voicing the famous XFL Cheerleader spots. He left NBC in December 2000 to join Kurt-Pellerin, a high-end content creators who exclusively produced documentary special features for DVDs. Burnett produced extras for titles such as The Walt Disney Company's The Fantasia Anthology and Snow White, and New Line Cinema's Extended Editions of Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers. Making of Tron, which was nominated for the Original Retrospective Documentary Award at the 2003 DVD Exclusive Awards, was directed and edited by Mr. Tron. Burnett founded Ludovico Technique LLC while still working at Kurtti-Pellerin. Ludovico appeared on the DVD Special Editions for Oscar-winning The Usual Suspects, Valley Girl, Superman Returns, Spider-Man, X-Men 1.5, X2, and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. He edited, wrote, and produced all the special features for Star Trek: The Next Generation Complete Series box set, which was released on June 7, 2016; he also contributed to the Blu-ray of all four seasons of Star Trek: Enterprise, with season four releasing on April 1, 2014. Most recently, he and director Dave Parker completed 6.5 hours of special features for Scream Factory's Blu-ray release of their film The Hills Run Red, released by Scream Factory on June 16, 2020. As a film director, he co-produced Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Agent Cody Banks and its sequel, Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London, and produced and produced the 2009 Warner Premiere and Dark Castle's The Hills Run Red. Burnett completed producing and editing Tango Shalom, the last appearance of actor Joseph Bologna in 2021. The film was theatrically released in the United States on September 3, 2021, after debuting in Jaipur, India.

Burnett made his debut as a producer and director with the 1999 award-winning film Free Enterprise, starring Eric McCormack and William Shatner, which he also edited. Burnett has produced and edited five episodes of the television show Femme Fatales, which premiered in 2010.

Burnett began his writing career as the "Critic at Large" for Larry Flynt-published Sci-Fi Universe magazine in the mid-90s. On July 10, 2018, he wrote an article for a Blade Runner anthology titled The Cyberpunk Nexus: Exploring the Blade Runner Universe, which was published by Sequart Organization. He currently owns The Burnettwork and Presents his own show titled Robservations, which provides in-depth online video reviews of new and classic television and film content for the film fan community and young filmmakers. Three episodes of Robservations that caught widespread notice, in particular, were those focusing on an alternative script for the final film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy (which Meyer Burnett has been highly critical of). The final script for "Duel of the Fates" had drastically different (and, in Robert's view, superior) concepts than the ones shown on screen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Burnett appears on YouTube as part of his friendship and fellow filmmaker John Campea's show titled The John Campea Exhibition. Burnett scathing review of the Disney+ Star Wars television series "In The Name Of Honor" during Burnett's appearance on The John Campea Show said he was smarter in second grade than the script of the book, although Burnett said he was dissatisfied by the series overall.

Burnett was a producer on the Schmoedown Entertainment Network's Movie Trivia Schmoedown show from June 2020. However, he was forced to leave this post due to a retweet and attached commentary over the assassination of former police captain David Dorn. Burnett mused over the absence of a second amendment supporter who would use deadly force to save Dorn's life when stunned on a video of the former police captain lying dead on a sidewalk. Robert Butler III, a former Schmoedown actor, took offense to Burnett's remarks and retweeted Burnett's words without a accompanying video. Many Schmoedown fans and stars alike expressed their dissatisfaction with Burnett's remarks, including Schmoedown host and co-creator Kristian Harloff, which culminated in his dissatisfaction with the trivia game. Despite Burnett's YouTube channel and privately speaking with Butler to regret (an apology that Butler accepted), he was not admitted to the Movie Trivia Schmoedown.
