Rick Riordan Life

Richard Russell Riordan Jr. (born June 5, 1964) is an American author.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, about a twelve-year-old Percy Jackson who discovers he is a son of Greek God Poseidon.

His books have been translated into 42 languages and have sold more than 30 million copies in the United States.

The Percy Jackson series's first two books have been adapted as part of a series of films by twentieth Century Fox.

His books have appeared in various media, including graphic novels and short story collections. Big Red Tequila was Riordan's first full-length book, and it became the first book in the Tres Navarre series.

His breakthrough was the publication of The Lightning Thief (2005), the first book in the Percy Jackson series, which set a group of adolescents in a Greco-Roman mythological setting.

Riordan has written The Kane Chronicles trilogy and The Heroes of Olympus since then.

The Kane Chronicles (2010-2012) concentrated on Egyptian mythology; The Heroes of Olympus was the sequel to the Percy Jackson story.

Riordan was also a contributor to Scholastic Press' The 39 Clues series and its spinoffs, as well as penned its first book, The Maze of Bones (2008).

Three books in the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series, which are based on Norse mythology, have been his most recent publications.

In May 2016, The Unknown Oracle, his first book in the series The Trials of Apollo based on Greek mythology, was published.

Rick Riordan Career

Life and career

Riordan was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School and first attended the music program at North Texas State University, aspiring to be a guitarist. He enrolled at the University of Texas and studied English and History. He obtained his teaching certificate at the University of Texas in San Antonio. At Presidio Hill School in San Francisco, he taught English and Social Studies for eight years.

On the couple's shared birthday in 1985, Rick married Becky Riordan. They have two sons, Haley and Patrick. In June 2013, they moved from San Antonio to Boston, together with their older son Haley, who attended Boston College.

Riordan has written several hit book series. The Shamus, Anthony, and Edgar Awards were awarded to Tres Navarre, an adult mystery film about a Texas private eye.

He conceived the Percy Jackson story as bedtime stories about ancient Greek heroes for his son Haley. Haley had been diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, triggering Riordan to make the titular protagonist hyperactive and dyslexic. In 2005, Riordan published The Lightning Thief, the first book in the series. Four sequels followed, with the last, The Last Olympian, in 2009. Riordan had written the Tres Navarres series, a series of mystery novels for adult readers, prior to Percy Jackson.

The titular twelve-year-old discovers he is the modern-day son of the ancient Greek god Poseidon in Percy Jackson & the Olympians. Between 2010 and 2013, 20th Century Fox acquired the film rights and released two feature film adapations. Following Percy Jackson's success, Riordan created The Kane Chronicles, which features a modern-day Egyptian pantheon and two new sibling characters, Sadie and Carter Kane. The Heroes of Olympus is also a Riordan sequel to Percy Jackson's The Heroes of Olympus.

Riordan also contributed to the creation of The 39 Clues, the children's book series. On September 28, 2008, he wrote several of its books, including The Maze of Bones, which debuted on the New York Times Best Seller list. He also contributed to the Puffin Classics edition of Roger Lancelyn Green's Tales of the Greek Heroes, in which he claims that the book inspired him to write his Greek mythology book.

Riordan co-wrote the pilot for the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series on Disney+ in 2022 and is currently serving as an executive producer for the series. Disney had previously owned Fox in 2019, allowing it to publish Percy Jackson's stories.

Slew of TV shows and movies from Mean Girls to Sexy Beast keep being rehashed again and again as studios prioritise 'making money' from 'safe' projects

Multiple iterations of some of the most popular viewings in the United States and the United Kingdom have been held in multiple iterations, including fandom and the United Kingdom, which have attracted followers in a rage. The Percy Jackson & The Olympians book series, which is based on children whose parents are mystic Greek gods, has already been made into films, but not for any of the series's sequels, and does not have a musical. However, a Netflix Plus TV show based on the novels was a hit in December. One branding specialist told FEMAIL that although studios may be running out of original plans, there is still a lot of money to be invested in adaptations.

Early praise from television commentators has pounded Percy Jackson and the Olympians, though some believe it lacks the majesty of franchises like Harry Potter

In the Percy Jackson and the Olympians television series, the beloved character and his families will be back to life nearly two decades after Rick Riordan first published his Percy Jackson novel series. The books were first brought to life in two films, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Theif and Percy Jackson's Sea of Monsters, both 2010 and 2013. Logan Lerman, the film's father, Poseidon's uncle, learned he's a demigod.
