Richard Speight Jr. is an American actor, director, screenwriter and producer who is known for a variety of roles including CBS TV series Jericho, The Agency, and the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers.

Speight plays a recurring role, the Archangel Gabriel, originally thought to be a "Trickster" or Loki, in the WB/CW series Supernatural.

Personal life

Speight was raised in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of Barbara and Richard Speight Sr. He has two older sisters. Speight attended Montgomery Bell Academy and the USC School of Dramatic Arts (formerly the USC School of Theatre), graduating cum laude. While at USC, he met and befriended writer and director Stephen Chbosky. Speight appeared in Chbosky's senior showcase piece. Years later, the two teamed up on the CBS series Jericho which Chbosky co-created.

In 2003, Speight married Jaci Kathryn Hays, a dot-com executive in California.

Speight has appeared in a variety of commercials for companies like Got Milk? IBM, Pepsi, and Disney are among IBM's and Disney's clients.

Speight played Sgt. Warren "Skip" Muck of the Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning World War II miniseries Band of Brothers, produced for HBO by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. Speight appeared in numerous television shows, including The Agency; Jericho; The Party of Five; and JAG.

He landed on "America's longest-running sci-fi series" in 2007, where he appeared as 'The Trickster/Loki,' or later referred to as the Archangel Gabriel. Speight's characters in Season 13 episode "Unfinished Business" were resurgent in 2018, while simultaneously directing the episode himself, making a surprise return in 2018.

He appeared on Justified for a recurring basis, and as a guest on Life, Memphis Beat, Longmire, CSI: Beyond Borders (2017), Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (2017).

Speight's earlier appearances included a film adaptation, Ernest Goes to Camp, and a regular presence on the NBC Saturday morning sitcom Running the Halls. He appeared in the film Thank You for Smoking, directed and written by fellow USC alumnus Jason Reitman. Speight appeared in Speed 2: Cruise Control and The Last Big Attraction. In In God We Trust, Jason Reitman's short film, he appeared in several scenes. Speight does not appear in the film Independence Day, despite being credited on IMDb.

The Week (2016), La Musica Provata, Mucho Dinero, Brick Madness, Bad, Bad Men, and Death House (2016) are among his latest projects. An FBI agent in a thriller, The Evil Gene (2016), and a thriller thriller Driven (2019).

Speight is a close friend of actor Rob Benedict. Both the two characters appear at conventions in a pair. They created Kings of Confederation, a television series in which they both appeared as featured actors and beloved characters. Speight, a writer, producer, engineer, and actor in Kings of Con, is a "lifted version of himself" as character Richard Slate. The series was launched in the United States and overseas on November 15, 2016, with the help of a flourishing Indiegogo campaign. On their Facebook page, a show named Kings of Conversation follows.

Speight's directing career began with co-directing/co-starring in the 2004 independent film North Beach. A copy of this work is being preserved as part of the San Francisco Public Library's SF History section - Main Branch.

Speight wrote and directed America 101, a satirical social comedy. Rick Gomez, a veteran of Band of Brothers, appeared in the festival's best-selling 10-minute short film; co-star Amy Gumenick; and North Beach alumni Jayden Lund and Jim Hanna. "One man's life becomes the lesson of the day," the short film, which is now available on iTunes, is described as "One man's life becomes the lesson of the day." "Italian-Independence was a misunderstanding," the author said.

Speight brought Speight into the field of commercial directing, thanks to America 101's success. Several Pepsi commercials have been directed by him for other national brands.

Speight made his debut in Warner Bros. television Director's Workshop, a successful combination of commercial directing and rigorous preparation, in the first episode to have been nominated for Hugo Awards in 2016 – the first episode to have been nominated for Hugo Awards in the show's 15-year history. Speight masterfully both acted and directed himself in the dual roles of Gabriel and Loki in season 13's "Unfinished Business." Speight has been a part of the music industry both on and off screen. Speight's musical career has included a varied collaboration with many gifted performers, including a guitarist and bass player with more than two decades of experience.

Speight has performed in a number of bands as a singer. Speight's debut as a front band in high school, The Distortion Hawgs (1986), where he performed lead vocals & bass. Fugitive Pope (1993) was another notable member of the band's early career as the guitarist. Speight appears on several albums by singer-songwriter & producer Jason Manns, including Christmas with Friends (2016), and Recovering with Friends (2018). Speight's debut album "Dick Jr. & The Volunteers," produced by Jason Manns, was released in August.

Speight is a favorite guest performer at Saturday Night Special concerts by the indie rock band Louden Swain, and the group's year has seen more than 100 shows around North America than ever before. Louden Swain released a live recording album of the same name in 2017. The album appeared on Billboard, was ranked at #1 on Heatseekers, #35 on Independent Albums, and #10 on Best Buys, and the highest ranking on iTunes is #78 in the United States; he's also a member of the same band Alive.

He has appeared in music videos for two of Slayer's trilogy You Against You and Pride in Prejudice, showcasing his talent in the horror genre [12]
