Antonio Rosselló Nevares (American Spanish) is a Puerto Rican politician who served as the governor of Puerto Rico from 2017 to 2019. He resigned on August 2, 2019, after demonstratings relating to the Telegramgate affair. Pedro Rosselló, the son of former Puerto Rico governor and pediatric surgeon, is the son of former Governor Pedro Rosselló.

Boricua Ahora Es, a political advocacy group founded in 2010 by Rosselló. To advocate for transforming Puerto Rico's current political status. Rosselló favors the independence of Puerto Rico. Rosselló has confirmed that he would seek the nomination of the New Progressive Party (PNP in Spanish) for Governor of Puerto Rico in 2016. Rosselló was elected governor of the 2016 general election after winning the New Progressive Party primary and defeating five other candidates.

Rosselló and his staff were embroiled in widespread backlash in July 2019, after a group chat on the Telegram app between Rosselló and his staff was revealed publicly. The discussion included vulgar, sexist, homophobic, and misogynistic words, a discussion of the use of internet troll networks on social media, elitist remarks, and mockery of Puerto Ricans' difficulties as they begin to recover from Hurricane Maria, which killed approximately 3,000 people. Rosselló's chief financial officer joked about the people who died in Hurricane Maria and that there was a risk to Mayor San Juan Yuln Cruz. Several days later, demonstrations continued throughout Puerto Rico demanding Rosselló's resignation as a result of the leak. As part of the demonstrations, an estimated 500,000 protesters took to Old San Juan on July 17, 2019. Rosselló resigned on August 2 after first stating that he intended to finish his term as governor.

Early life and education

Rosselló was born in 1979 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the son of Pedro Rosselló and Maga Nevares. Juan scar (b.) His older brothers are Juan scar (b). Luis Roberto (b. 1971) and Luis Roberto (b. ). (circulation 1973) Pedro Rosselló was Governor of Puerto Rico from 1993 to 2001. Pedro Juan Rosselló Batle, Rosselló's paternal great-grandfather, immigrated in 1902 from Lloseta, Spain, at the age of 23.

Rosselló attended high school at Colegio Marista de Guaynabo. He was chosen to compete in the International Mathematical Olympiads.

Rosselló obtained a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2001 in biomedical engineering and economics. Rosselló, a college researcher, specialized in adult stem cell research. He obtained a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan.

Personal life

Rosselló was married to Natasha Marie Cervi from 2008 to 2010.

Rosselló married Beatriz Areizaga in a wedding ceremony held in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 14, 2012. Claudia Beatriz and Pedro Javier, the couple's daughter, and a son, Pedro Javier.

Roy Rossello, a singer and former member of the boy band Menudo, is his cousin.

Rosselló was tied to a car accident in 1994 that killed a woman and her child while he was intoxicated. Rosselló was the inebriated driver in the original 1994 newspaper newspaper note, as well as the victims' son and twin brother, respectively. The court heard that the other individual in the car, Rosselló's girlfriend Ricardo Molinari Such, was the driver.

Early career

Rosselló is a co-founder of Beijing Prosepharm, a Beijing, China-based medical research firm. Rosselló said to have produced certain drugs but later announced that they were still in the discovery phase of development.

Rosselló became involved in politics during the 2008 Puerto Rico gubernatorial election after his father, Pedro Rosselló, lost a party primary against eventual Governor Luis Fortuo. Rosselló delegated to the 2008 nominating convention and an Obama delegate to the 2012 convention. In 2008, he participated in Clinton's get-out-the-vote campaign for the Puerto Rico presidential primary, including fellow statehooder Kenneth McClintock and commonwealth's José A. Hernández Mayoral.

Following this activity, Rosselló became a political commentator and columnist for El Vocero, a San Juan daily newspaper that publishes politics, science, health, and economics. In addition, Rosselló appeared in numerous political radio talk shows as a frequent guest analyst.

He wrote a book that portrayed his father's administration's accomplishments (1993–2001). In a single day, all copies of the limited edition print were sold out. He allowed the content to be public domain and published it on the La Obra de Rosselló website for everyone to read in order to spread the word.

Boricua Es!, a political advocacy group that advocates for reforming Puerto Rico's current political status, was founded in 2012. The campaign featured a grass-roots educational campaign, implying that the foreign community's involvement might be vital for the United States government to take action.
