Personal life
Singh, rather than the female wrestlers, was friends with the male wrestlers backstage. She formed a close friendship with Owen Hart during her WWF service.
Singh took a break from wrestling after leaving WCW. She began working as a caregiver for the disabled in 2001. She had a "big heart" and "wanted to look after people," her brother Tom said. Singh died of a heart attack at the age of 40 on July 27, 2001. Singh's family attributed her death to a combination of medical disorders. In an interview with Online World of Wrestling Radio, Bruno Lauer denied her cause of death, where he said "he took herself out." She never married or had children.
Professional wrestling career
Singh attended numerous Stampede Wrestling performances with her mother when she was growing up in Calgary. She knew she wanted to be a wrestler from a young age and beat up the neighborhood children, as well as those in her kindergarten class. Singh approached members of the Hart wrestling family as a child and asked to be trained, but she was turned down because they didn't have women wrestlers at the time. Bret Hart, on the other hand, claims that it had nothing to do with scheduling conflicts. She saw Japanese women's wrestling on television while on vacation to Hawaii in 1978 and decided she wanted to pursue the sport. She later wrote to Mildred Burke after a friend gave her a magazine with Burke's contact information and sent her a biography and photograph. She joined Burke's training facility in Encino, California, less than a year later.
Despite her inexperience, Singh was scouted by All Japan Women (AJW) after a few weeks of training with Burke. Singh's debut match in Japan was a tag team match with partner Mami Kumano, defeating the Beauty Pair (Jackie Sato and Maki Ueda) in January 1979. Monster Ripper, a Japanese girl, began wrestling in Japan. Despite finding adapting to the Japanese lifestyle difficult, Singh captured AJW's highest accolade, the WWWA World Single Championship, on two occasions and was the first Calgary born wrestler to win gold in Japan. The Japanese female wrestlers gave her a rough time during their time in the company because they did not like losing to immigrants. Singh had a difficult time due to her youth and inexperience in the sport. Singh, on the other hand, was consoled by Dynamite Kid from New Japan Pro-Wrestling, who had worked in Calgary. Singh defeated Jackie Sato in the WWWA World Single Championship on July 31, 1979. Despite losing the title to Sato six weeks later, she regained it on March 15, 1980. In August 1980, the title was vacated.
Singh returned to Stampede Wrestling in late 1987 and was renamed Rhonda Singh by Bruce Hart, the company's owner. Although there were attempts to pair her with Gama Singh, but no one came to fruition. She was crowned the first Women's Champion in 1987 after defeating Wendi Richter before returning to Stampede. She held the title until September 22, 1988, when she lost to Chi Chiguayo.
Singh has fought for a variety of organisations over the next few years, winning several titles. Singh served in Puerto Rico for five years (WWC), where she gained the WWC Women's Championship on five occasions by defeating Wendi Richter, Candi Devine, and Sasha in matches for the title. On the WWC 18th Anniversary Show on July 6, 1991, she met and defeated El Profe in an intergender match as Monster Ripper.
In 1992, she worked as La Monstra for Asistencia Asesora y Administración in Mexico, where she captured the WWA World Women's Award.
Singh was first contacted by the World Wrestling Federation in 1995 to support their ailing women's division. Bertha Faye, a comedic figure who lived in a trailer park and dated Harvey Wippleman, was repackaged as Bertha Faye. In an OWW radio interview, Wippleman revealed that the two never got along well.) The two never got along with Bull Nakano, but there was a change of plans after Nakano was arrested with cocaine possession.
Singh made her WWF debut on Monday Night Raw's April 3, 1995 episode, during which an alundra Blayze attack appeared, making it seem as if Blayze's nose had been broken. Faye defeated Blayze for the WWF Women's Championship at SummerSlam and retained the title until Monday Night Raw, where Blayze regained the title on Monday Night Raw, ending Faye's reign at just 57 days.
As the year came, fan interest in women's wrestling dropped once more, and Singh became sick of being in the gym. In addition, Faye was dissatisfied with her gimmick, when she first felt like a prostitute due to her sexualized and comedic manner in which she was often depicted. Faye was not supposed to do the same power moves as the male wrestlers, so instead she was forced to act as comedic relief. Singh, a year with the company, has pleaded for an exemption from her service. She returned to Japan for a short time, but did not like the new method, which did not promise payouts.
Singh returned to AAA in Mexico in 1996 after leaving WWF. She also worked in Alberta, Canada, during this period.
She appeared on several telecasts in late 1999 to help spark excitement about a women's division. (WCW), a long time wrestler. She was also a contender for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship and the WCW Hardcore Championship. In addition to competing in matches utilizing her Singh and Monster Ripper gimmicks, she performed with the Nitro Girls dance troupe, providing comedic relief.
