Bobby Roode Life

Robert Francis Roode Jr. (born May 11, 1977) is a Canadian professional wrestler currently signed to WWE, but he appears on the SmackDown brand under his real name, Robert Roode.

He is currently suspended for 30 days for breaching WWE's Talent Management Policy. He is perhaps best known for his 12-year service with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), from 2004 to 2016, under ring name Bobby Roode.

Roode was the NWA World Tag Team Champion after debuting for TNA as part of Team Canada in 2004, and Eric Young was named first TNA World Tag Team Champion.

He formed Beer Money, Inc. as a singles team following the team's dissolution.

He is the longest reigning champions in TNA history, together with Storm.

Roode later became a two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion, with his first tenure in the company's history, spanning 256 days.

Roode also won the World Tag Team Championship with Austin Aries in his later years with the company, and was a one-time TNA King of the Mountain Champion. Roode joined WWE in 2016 and began his career in NXT, the company's growth market, where he was a one-time NXT champion prior to his main roster call-up.

Roode made his debut on SmackDown in August 2017, winning the United States Championship in January 2018, his first appearance on the main roster.

He transferred to Raw in April and won the Raw Tag Team Championship with Chad Gable in December, followed by the 24/7 Championship in May 2019 and another Raw Tag Team Championship with partner Dolph Ziggler in September 2019.

Bobby Roode Career

Professional wrestling career

Roode grew up in Peterborough's youth playing minor hockey and attended Kenner Collegiate Vocational Institution. Mike Ricci, Tie Domi, and Chris Pronger train for the Peterborough Petes was also a stick boy for the OHL's Peterborough Petes.

Roode was trained in Peterborough, Ontario, by fellow Ontarians Shane Sewell and Sean Morley. He began training after a year and met his first "Total" Lee Awesome against Pete Rock in June 1998. He went on to work for many Canadian independent companies, as well as appearing at the World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico. (WWC). He went on to fight for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWF/WWE) between 1998 and 2004, before being signed by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).

Roode joined Real Action Wrestling in 2001, where he founded The Kardinal Sinners, alongside Kingman and Mike Hughes, as well as part-time Wildman Gary Williams and The Acadian Giant. Roode later rejoined them as part of their Wrestling Reality show that would be broadcast on The Fight Network, but he was not allowed to attend these episodes due to contractual commitments with TNA.

Roode wrestled for BSE Pro in Ontario, Border City Wrestling in Windsor, Ontario, and New Jersey's NWA Shockwave. He captured the NWA Shockwave Internet Championship from Josh Daniels at an NWAS/New York Wrestling Connection cross-promotional tournament on March 18, 2006. Roode defeated the vacant NWA Shockwave Heavyweight Championship at Disturbing the Peace 2006 in a four-way match eight days later on March 26. Roode held both titles until May 21, when he dropped the Internet title and successfully defended the Heavyweight title against Slyck Wagner Brown. All of the NWA Cyberspace championships were vacated, including Roode's Heavyweight title, due to the company's revival.

Roode appeared on the WWF/WWE many times between 2001 and 2004. He appeared in secondary television shows such as Jakked/Metal, Sunday Night Heat, or Velocity. Prior to Raw and SmackDown, he also wrestled in shadows.

Scott D'Amore, the founder of Border City Wrestling, a Canadian independent sport for which Roode had participated on occasion, brought Roode into Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) in May 2004. Roode debuted in TNA as part of Team Canada's Team Canada and took part in the World X-Cup, which was won by Team USA. With 3Live Kru and America's Most Wanted, Team Canada continued to feud with America's Most Wanted. Team Canada (Roode and Eric Young) defeated Christopher Daniels (4) and James Storm to win the NWA World Tag Team Championship on October 12, 2004. Team Canada lost the championships to 3Live Kru (B.G.). (James and Konnan) Roode served as the team's most influential and influential member at the time, as the group's enforcer, a role played by Arn Anderson. He started demanding that he be referred to as "The Canadian Enforcer" from that point forward and began to arrive in sequined robes reminiscent of the flashy style popularized by the Four Horsemen and Rick Rude in the late 1980s.

Roode started a feud with Dustin Rhodes in early 2005, losing to him at Lockdown in a best of three falls steel cage match in April, with the third falling a blindfold match. Roode took the Gold at Hard Justice in a Twenty-Man Gauntlet, which was won by Abyss. Lance Hoyt, who defeated him at Slammiversary and with Team Canada, is a member of Team Canada, and the Naturals have been with the Roode since. In an Eight-man tag team match at Sacrifice, Team Canada defeated America's Most Wanted and The Naturals. Roode and Team Canada's remaining team resurgent, after beating Jeff Hardy at Unbreakable in September. Team Canada defeated 3Live Kru on Bound for Glory at Bound for Glory. Team Canada lost in a 6-Sided Stick Fight with Kip James as the special guest referee, and Turning Point defeated 4Live Kru (B.G.). In an eight-man tag team match, James, Kip James, Konnan, and Ron Killings competed.

Roode began a singles career while still being connected to Team Canada by defeating Ron Killings in Final Resolution. TNA Impact Director Jim Cornette prompted the breakup of Team Canada five months later on the June 29 episode of TNA Impact! However, Cornette on Impact! on July 6 gave Team Canada a chance to remain together, but only if they win a match against Jay Lethal, Rhino, and Team 3D. On the September 13 episode of Impact!, Team Canada lost the game after Jay Lethal pinned A-1, disbanding Team Canada once and for all.

Roode began referring to himself as "TNA's best free agent" after Team Canada's demise. Vignettes began playing with various TNA executives, such as Simon Diamond, Jim Mitchell, and Shane Douglas, who denied the suggestion that Roode be a NWA World Heavyweight Championship candidate and expressing their desire in becoming his boss. After having decided not to work with a current TNA chief, segments began airing on Roode interviewing managers for the position; Bobby "The Brain" Heenan on September 7, Col. Robert Parker on September 14, and Sherri Martel on September 21. Traci Brooks, Bound for Glory, was appointed by Traci Brooks, the master of Bound for Glory, and "Robert Roode" got to work, with Brooks now being named as "Ms. Brooks" instead of "Chief Executive Offender" (CEO). Eric Young, the retool's first rival, became jealous as he discovered fans were still cheering him but cheered Young's every move. Brooks "sign" Young after the youngster beat Brooks in a bikini contest, according to him. Eventually, at the 2007 Against All Odds festival, Brooks successfully lured Young into a "Robert Roode Inc" deal, and Roode began to threaten Young by ordering him around. However, young started to fight back after being given the advise of a mystery "friend."

Roode defeated Petey Williams, the man he claimed to be Young's "best friend," in Lockdown, and won the game despite Young's inability to assist Williams. Young declared that Williams was not his "friend" and that Roode, the guy in charge of Young's deal, gave Young a week to inform him whether his friend was or not fired. Young revealed his "friend" to be Jeff Jarrett the following week, resulting in Roode's clash with Jarrett at Sacrifice. After being pounded with the Payoff, Roode continued to beat Jarrett. In a match at Slammiversary, the Roode eventually met Young. Roode earned the pinfall after smashing Young with a steel chair, but Jim Cornette came out and ordered the game to be restarted just as he was about to dismiss Young. In the process of breaking his ties with Roode, the young boy pinched Roode inside the cradle. In a Mixed tag team match at Victory Road, Roode and Ms. Brooks lost to Eric Young and Gail Kim.

On the July 26 episode of Impact!, Roode and Ms. Brooks joined forces with Christian's Alliance to help in their battles with Sting and Abyss, and Mike Tenay said Roode had joined the army. Eric Young lost a match against Team 3D, Roode and Brooks "tarred and feathered" Young, a week after. On the August 7 episode of TNA Today Young, the loser will be tarred and feathered, with the winner being crowned for a "humiliation match" at Hard Justice to Roode. Roode won, but Ms. Brooks was tarred and feathered as Roode waited from the stage and later as she doubted his loyalty, his apparent bullying of her became a major storyline and side angle.

Roode then went on a mini-feud with Kaz, who confronted Roode after he mistreated Ms. Brooks. At No Surrender, the Roode defeated Kaz. Other wrestlers followed in Kaz' footsteps shortly after. Brooks complied with Roode's activities because she needed to raise funds for her ill mother, according to an interview. Since then, the "superstar" segment of the mistreatment scheme has slowly faded, but Roode's egotistic bullying antics got worse.

In the Fight for the Right Tournament, Roode was included. He was the last person to be disqualified from the tournament's gauntlet section at Bound for Glory, and he lost his first tournament match to Junior Fatu. Around this time, Roode not only started mistreating Brooks but also began to show signs of full-blown misogyny in segments involving or referring to other people, such as Karen Angle, Gail Kim, or Sharmell. Brooks, who chuckled as Fatu gave Roode a stinkface, understood the dissatisfaction. Brooks finally stood up to Roode on TNA Impact's November 8, 2007, by shoving him away from his attack on Chris Harris and attacking "Roode's No. 2." "I am a fan." Roode lost to Samoa Joe at Genesis (2007).

Roode formed a friendship with Christian Cage, TNA's Booker T, and Booker T's claim that "has beens" like Booker T's appearance and gain main event status at the expense of long-time Talent like himself. Roode and Cage were lost to Booker T and Kaz at Turning Point (2006). Following an invitation to join the Angle Alliance on Impact, Roode and Cage allied with Kurt Angle. But this only lasted for one night, as the Angle Alliance lost to Samoa Joe, Kevin Nash, Kaz, Booker T and Eric Young when Nash pinned Roode. Cage and Roode were then shown a face-to-face altercation in the ring that led to Angle and Roode attacking Cage, effectively kicking Cage out of the Angle Alliance and turning the Angle-Cage conflict into a full-fledged feud.

In a mixed tag team match against Booker T and his wife Sharmell, Roode teamed up with Ms. Brooks in Final Resolution. After losing the match, Roode finally took his turn on Brooks, but Sharmell ran back into the ring to prevent it from happening, knocking her out. As Booker T. returned to the ring to assist his wife, Roode escaped the wedding, and as he examined the ring, he realized what had been done. Roode fought Brooks and shot her, but Jim Cornette stymied her when he tried to lay hands on her. Since being out of the league, Roode's "number one fan" assaulted Brooks. Ms. Payton Banks, Roode's fan, has been replaced by Brooks.

Following the Final Resolution, and with Payton Banks by his side, Roode continued his feud with Booker T. at Against All Odds, where the two competitors faced off in a singles match. Roode escaped from the ring and into a car, only to enrage Booker. In a Stand By Your Man Strap Match, Booker and Roode clashed again, with the loser's boss (Banks for Roode, Brooks for Booker) receiving ten leather lashes from the winner's boss. After winning with a handcuff-armed fist, Roode was able to yank everyone with a leather belt, including Jim Cornette. Cornette punished her by putting her in a mixed tag team competition with Booker at Lockdown, which Booker and Sharmell won. Roode verbally abused Banks for losing, much as he used to bully Ms. Brooks, effectively ending their relationship. Roode and Booker T lost to Christian Cage and Rhino in a Deuces Wild Tag Team Tournament quarterfinal match at Sacrifice (2008). Roode was in the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in a losing effort at Slammiversary.

Roode and James Storm defeated The Latin American Xchange (LAX) (Homicide and Hernandez) for the TNA World Tag Team Championship on June 12 in Impact! Storm and Roode took victory after Storm Dorian made a Last Call on Hernandez with a belt tied around his boot. Hector Guerrero, LAX's boss, was on ringside and had the game revived by informing the referee of what had happened. The LAX team was then retained, resulting in Roode, Thunder, and Jacqueline attacking LAX. Storm and Roode were matched against the Los Angeles Kings Revenge Lumberjack match next week. Roode and Storm became known as "Beer Money, Inc," and "Beer Money," for those that are not standardized (Storm's beer-drinking cowboy gimmick representing "Money" and "Money" in the United States). The match was a success at Victory Road, Los Angeles. Beer Money, on the other hand, became the new TNA World Tag Team Champions, defeating LAX after hitting Homicide with a beer bottle. The feud continued in No Surrender, with Beer Money, Inc. winning again. After Roode pinned Hernandez of LAX in a four-team Monster's Ball match, Beer Money successfully defended their titles in a four-team Monster's Ball match at Bound for Glory IV.

At Turning Point 2008 against The Motor City Machine Guns, Beer Money saved the tag team championship (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin). Beer Money, Inc. became involved in a feud with Matt Morgan and Abyss later, retaining the titles against them at Final Resolution. On the January 8 episode of Impact, Roode and Storm lost the titles to Lethal and Creed. But they were restored to Genesis three days later in a three-way match involving Abyss and Matt Morgan. At Against All Odds, Beer Money, Inc. defeated Creed and Jay Lethal and retained the trophy. Beer Money lost the TNA World Tag Team Championship to Team 3D in a Philadelphia Street Fight, where Team 3D's IWGP Tag Team Championships were also on the line at Lockdown 2009. On May 21, Beer Money brought Team 3D, who were being weakened by The British Invasion (Doug Williams, Brutus Magnus, and their bodyguard Rob Terry), to the rescue of Team 3D. From all of the times they've fought, Team 3D taught them that if you're going to fight, you should at least fight fairly,' despite this. Sacrifice Beer Money won the TNA World Tag Team Tournament and earned the right to face Team 3D for the TNA World Tag Team Championships. Beer Money won the TNA World Tag Team Championships for the third time at Slammiversary. The following month, Victory Road, Beer Money, lost the titles to Booker T and Scott Steiner of The Main Event Mafia.

The two teams' feud began to clash with that of Team 3D and the British Invasion, resulting in a three-month war between the four teams. In an IWGP Tag Team Championship match against MEM and the Invasion), Beer Money went on to lose to the British Invasion, win a Lethal Lockdown match at No Surrender, win a Lethal Lockdown battle against Team 3D and the Invasion), and forfeit a 4-way Full Metal Mayhem match at Bound for Glory for both the TNA and IWGP Tag Team Championships, with Team 3D winning the IWGP Tag Team Championships One last title shot was allowed in the aftermath of Impact!, where they defeated the British Invasion in a Six Sides of Steel match. Brutus Magnus was disqualified from serving as a referee, causing him and Doug Williams to keep the championships.

On the November 12 episode of Impact!

In the Tag Team Championship match at Turning Point, Beer Money defeated the British Invasion in a non-title match to join the Motor City Machine Guns. After Kevin Nash nailed Storm with the TNA World Championship belt, the British Invasion managed to keep their titles. Storm defeated The Band of Kevin Nash and Syxx-Pac at Genesis Roode and Storm.Beer Money's TV time was dramatically reduced in 2010 with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff taking over TNA. On the March 8 episode of Impact, Beer Money went back to Impact! Beginning by registering to face Jeff Jartt in a handicap match and then losing him after a low blow and the DWI, the only way they were going to be noticed by the new administration. Since being Bischoff's henchmen, Roode and Storm had been wrestling wrestlers with whom he's had problems, often in two-on-one situations. Matt Morgan and Hernandez were battling for the TNA World Tag Team Championship in Destination X Beer Money, but the defending champions were unable to dethrone the defending champions. Team Flair was defeated by Team Hogan in the annual Lethal Lockdown match at Lockdown Beer Money, with Sting and Desmond Wolfe. (Abyss, Jeff Jarrett, Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardy). They then began a feud with Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson's newly formed team, who went on to defy them at Slammiversary VIII. Ric Flair, who had aligned himself with Roode, Storm, A.J., appeared on Impact! on the following episode. The Four Horsemen were revived under the new name Fourtune, according to Desmond Wolfe and Kazarian, who said that each of them had to secure their positions in the organization; Flair likened Storm and Roode to Ole Anderson and Tully Blanchard. Beer Money entered a four-team, two-week tournament to determine the opponent of the TNA World Tag Team Championships for the titles at Victory Road in June. With wins over Team 3D and Ink Inc., Beer Money has advanced to the title match at the pay-per-view. (Jesse Neal and Shannon Moore). After Victory Road Beer Money won a Best of Five Series with the Motor City Machine Guns, the TNA World Tag Team Championship was announced. After knocking out beer bottles, Beer Money secured the first two matches, a ladder match, and a Street Fight. Ric Flair introduced Roode and Storm, who were just one victory away from becoming the fourth-time TNA World Tag Team Champions on July 29. On May 15, Sacrifice, Beer Money, Inc. defended the TNA World Tag Team Championship against Immortal representatives Matt Hardy and Chris Harris, Storm's longest tag team partner who appeared on Impact on the previous episode!
