Rabah Saadane Life

Rabah Sabahane (born 3 May 1946) is an Algerian football manager and retired professional player whose playing career was abruptly ended after a car crash at the age of 27.

Before resigning in September 2010, his last management position was with the Algerian national team. It was his fifth separate stint in charge of the team, after previous stints between 1981 and 2004, and it was certainly his most fruitful, given the team's difficult qualification process.

He was in charge of the U-20s' 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship, Algeria's first participation in a major tournament.

In 1982, he was also a member of the 1982 FIFA World Cup backroom staff and head coach. During its 6th edition, held in Bamako, Mali, Sa'dane was named Africa's best coach by the Africa International Sport Convention (CISA).

He was characterized as the world's only coach to have qualified a team to four Fifa World Cup finals, with one in the junior category.

Rabah Saadane Career

Playing career

Saâdane was born in Batna. He was recruited to the MSP Batna's senior team in the mid-1960s at the age of 16, but he was still a cadet at the time. He continued his education at the Lyce Ahmed Reda Houhou in Constantine, where he had obtained a certificate of baccalaureate. He then signed for MO Constantine, continued his studies in Constantine and obtained a Ph.D. After a brief time at MO Constantine, he signed for JS El Biar. He later signed for USM Blida. Before being given his first call-up to Algeria's senior team by coach Rachid Mekhloufi, Sadane had been involved in an automobile accident, he had been forced to suspend his playing career at the age of 27 years. He may have played for Stade Rennais, according to various sources. However, Saâdane himself said he never played in France, where he took coaching lessons from Georges Boulogne.

Managerial career

He was a replacement coach for Algeria's under-20 youth team in 1978, and he was the head coach for the Algerian under-20 youth team to the 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship. That was the country's first participation in a major tournament after returning from France. Rachid Hanifi was recalled for the 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship, in which they progressed to the quarter-finals of the tournament, with young Diego Armando Maradona who displayed remarkable talent at the time.

He also coached Raja Casablanca, with whom he won the 1989 African Cup of Champions Clubs, Étoile Sportive du Sahel, Yemen, and ES Sétif.

Rabah Sa'dane had resigned on September 4th, 2010, Algeria's national football Federation announced on their official website, a day after the team's humiliating 1-1 home draw against Tanzania in a 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier. Saâdane resigned and that it had been accepted, according to the Algerian Football Federation. Saâdane had completed his fifth stint with the national team, helping them reach the semi-finals of the 2010 African Cup of Nations for the first time since 1990, as well as the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, snaping a 24-year wait.

Saadane was appointed as the head of Yemen's national football team on January 1, 2011. However, ten days later, it was revealed that he would not be the manager because the Yemen Football Association was unable to satisfy his financial requirements.
