Pruitt Taylor Vince (born July 5, 1960) is an American actor.

He became known for his appearances in Shy People (1987) and Miss Burning (1988).

He went on to appear in many films including Jacob's Fool (1990), Nobody's Fool (1994), The Legend of 1900 (1996), Constantine (2005), Gotti (2018), and Bird Box (2018). Vince has also appeared on several television shows.

In 1997, he received a Primetime Emmy Award for his guest appearance in Clifford Banks in the second season of the television series Murder One.

Early life

Vince was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He started studying acting due to a mistake; a computer glitch in his high school registration had enrolled him in an acting class; and he wanted to stay. He attended Louisiana State University.

Vince has suffered with nystagmus, the voluntary movement of the eye for the majority of his life. He has attempted to incorporate it into his jobs.

Vince appeared in Jim Jarmusch's Down by Law on his first film, but his scenes were cut out. He appeared in a number of big films, including a stint as a dimwitted Ku Klux Klan member in Mississippi Burning (1988), Lee Bowers in JFK (1991), and the main character's best friend in Nobody's Fool (1994). In James Mangold's independent film Heavy (1995), he was the lead actor, playing a sweet, overactive cook harboring a passion for a waitress played by Liv Tyler. He appeared in Giuseppe Tornatore's Italian film Legend of 1900 (1998).

Vince often switches between heroic and villainous characters. In Beautiful Girls, a lovable, tiny town pub owner with multiple personalities in Identity (a second collaboration with director Mangold); a priest with psychic abilities in the 2005 film Constantine, a gossip columnist in Simone; and a pompous sheriff in Nurse Betty. Walter is also seen in Love from Ground Zero as Walter. Vince appeared in Angel Heart, a kidnapper's assistant in Trapped, and a deputy jail warden in Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers.
