Career
McGlynn played five years of college soccer at the University of California, Santa Barbara, from 2008 to 2012, including a redshirted year in 2011 due to a season-ending injury. McGlynn was arrested and led out of the field in handcuffs after he had assaulted the referee during a 2012 match against the UC Davis Aggies.
McGlynn played for Ventura County Fusion in 2012 while attending college.
McGlynn was selected in the fourth round (72nd overall) of the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft by San Jose Earthquakes on January 22, 2013. On February 15, he signed with San Jose.
McGlynn returned to Ireland and spent time with Drogheda United, Bray Wanderers, and Longford Town following his release by San Jose at the end of the 2013 season. McGlynn signed for the Sacramento Republic, a United Soccer League team, on November 16, 2016.
