He is best known for his role in various P-Funk line-ups and as a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd since 2009.

Early life

Peter Michaelsen Pisarczyk was born in Burlington, Vermont, on May 30, 1965, to Michael Pisarczyk and Carole Bouchard.

When his parents played him to sleep with their 1923 Steinway piano, the keys started to play music at a young age. He began playing piano at the age of four and has been classically trained. At the Neighborhood School of Music in New Haven, Connecticut, he had his first appearance at the age of five. Keys was determined to make a living as a musician and moved to northern California in 1976, where he performed with his first band, Smeagol. Sound Advice, a cover band, formed after Smeagol's disbandment. He studied music from 1985 to Boston, Massachusetts, before dropping out to continue performing.
