Pejman Montazeri Career

Club career

Montazeri played for Foolad in the 2006 AFC Champions League group stage, making him one of the Iran Pro League's most versatile players.

Montazeri signed with Esteghlal after Foolad was relegated to the Azadegan League. In his first two seasons, he was a regular for the team, winning the Iran Pro League and the Hazfi Cup. He stayed with Esteghlal until 2013, where he captured the league championship in the 2012–2013 season. In 2013, he and Esteghlal reached the Asian Champions League semi-finals.

Montazeri came from Umm Salal on January 5, 2014. Montazeri's move to Umm Salal was in danger of relegation, but Umm Salal managed to relegate under Montazeri's leadership, winning 7th place and finishing seventh.

Montazeri agreed to a two-year deal with Qatari club Al Ahli on May 31.

Montazeri returned to Esteghlal on June 14 after a mutual decision not to renew his deal with Al Ahli. He was given the number 33 shirt, the same number he wore for Esteghlal during his first spell.

International career

Pejman Montazeri, a member of Iran U-23, was one of the 2006 Asian Games. On October 5, 2011, he made his senior debut against Palestine, scoring as Iran defeated their opponent 7–0. Later, he was named Man of the match. Coach Carlos Queiroz named him to the national team for World Cup 2014, 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification, and the 2012 WAFF Championship. Carlos Queiroz, a footballer from Iran, was called into Iran's 2014 FIFA World Cup squad on June 1. In all three games for Team Melli, where Iran was disqualified in the group stage, he played full 90 minutes. However, he did not miss the 2015 AFC Asian Cup due to injury. As Iran qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup without losing a single goal, he was also called up to participate in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification and developed a strong relationship with Morteza Pouraliganji and Jalal Hosseini. He was named in Iran's provisional squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia in May 2018.
