Paul Martyn Konchesky (born 15 May 1981) is an English professional footballer who last played as a left back for East Thurrock United.
He has previously played for Charlton Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Fulham, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Queens Park Rangers, Leicester City, Gillingham, and Billericay Town.
Konchesky made 15 appearances for the England under-21 team and was capped twice for England.
Club career
In August 1997, Konchesky first signed for Charlton as a trainee. When he played against Oxford United in August 1997 at the age of 16 years and 93 days, he became the youngest player to play in the first team for Charlton (a record set later by Jonjo Shelvey). But it wasn't until the 2000–01 season, when he reached 27 appearances, that he became a regular in the first team. Konchesky, who was dissatisfied with a lack of first-team opportunities at his preferred position of left back, made a written request for a transfer, which Charlton accepted. However, firm offers were not forthcoming. Rather, Konchesky was loaned to Tottenham Hotspur. Konchesky was recalled from Spurs in December 2003, after he had previously been stripped off the transfer list due to a string of injuries.
Konchesky joined Tottenham Hotspur on a one-month loan in September 2003. The loan was refinanced for a month and then until January 2004. Despite Konchesky's insistence on a permanent transfer to Tottenham, no move was made.
Konchesky joined West Ham United in July 2005 for a total of 168 appearances for Charlton in all competitions, scoring six goals and 15 appearances for Tottenham. He made 45 appearances in the 2005–06 season, helping West Ham win their ninth position in the Premier League and to the 2006 FA Cup Final, where he scored as West Ham fell to Liverpool on penalties after drawing 3–3 after extra time.
During the 2006–07 season, he lost his spot in the first team to George McCartney, making only 25 appearances as West Ham fell into the relegation brackets and only recently claimed their spot in the Premier League on the final day of the season. He left the club in July 2007 after making 70 league and cup appearances for West Ham, scoring two goals.
Konchesky signed a four-year deal with Fulham in July 2007, for a fee of up to £3.25 million. Konchesky appeared in the first game of the 2008–09 season for Fulham against Hull City, a new Premier League team, but after he stumbled over the ball, the opposing team gained a winner. Due to injury, he missed Arsenal's game against Arsenal, but Bolton Wanderers returned to action the following league match. In a 3–1 loss to his former West Ham, who later won the January 2009 Goal of the Month competition and was eligible for Goal of the Season, he scored his first goal for the club, a 35-yard piledriver into the top left hand corner of the net.
Konchesky continued his goalscoring in September 2009 by beating Fulham Town 2–1 in a 2–1 victory, scoring with the help of a deflection off Everton defender Sylvain Distin. Konchesky signed a four-year deal with Liverpool on August 31, 2010. He made his league debut against Birmingham City on September 12th, but he was forced to leave early in the 77th minute. He made his UEFA Europa League debut four days later against Steaua București at Anfield, with Liverpool triumphing 4–1. However, his time at Liverpool was a disappointment, with the defender struggling at the club. When Liverpool lost in the home loss to Wolves, an error against Spurs that allowed Aaron Lennon to score the winner was widely condemned, and Konchesky was booed by Liverpool fans.
Konchesky fell out of favour after the arrival of new manager Kenny Dalglish in his second stint as Liverpool manager, and he joined Nottingham Forest on a 93-day emergency loan contract on January 31. He signed a new 18-month contract in January 2014 after being subjected to a substantial pay cut. When Leicester won promotion to the Premier League in the 2013-2014 season, Konchesky was a central figure. In the 2014–15 season, he also helped the team relegate relegation by scoring his first Premier League goal in 1945 days over Aston Villa. Konchesky was told by manager Claudio Ranieri that he was "not in his plans" and would not be able to look for a new club on July 30, 2015, having not participated in any of the club's pre-season friendlies.
Konchesky signed Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan on August 4, 2015. Konchesky made his QPR debut in the first game of the Championship season, defeating Charlton 2–0 in which he was involved throughout the game and was banned in the 88th minute. Leicester fired him on June 27, 2016.
Konchesky joined Gillingham on a one-year deal on July 21, 2016. He was with the club until February, when he dropped four levels to join Billericay Town of the Isthmian League.

International career
Konchesky made 15 appearances for the England national under-21 football team, and he has two caps for the senior England squad. Coaching career
Konchesky resurfaced in 2017 as a West Ham tutor. Konchesky re-joined Billericay as an assistant manager to Jamie O'Hara in August 2020. He had already been listed as a player. However, Konchesky and O'Hara had both left the team on December 3rd, 2020.
In May 2021, Konchesky became the assistant manager of West Ham United Women, and in May 2022, he succeeded Olli Harder as the boss ahead of the 2022-23 FA WSL season.
