Órlagh Fallon (born 24 August 1974), professionally known as Órla Fallon, is an Irish singer, songwriter and former member of the group Celtic Woman and the chamber choir Anúna.

Early life and education

Fallon was born in Knockananna, Ireland. She plays the harp and sings traditional Irish music, most often in the Irish language. Fallon studied at Mater Dei Institute of Education, in Dublin. She has performed for the Pope and the President of Ireland and at Carnegie Hall.

Personal life

She has been married to John Comerford since 1997 and has a son named Freddie, who was born in 2012.

The Water is Wide was her debut album, released in Europe in 2000 and in North America in 2006. She was featured on The Duggans album Rubicon in 2005, as well as peers Moya Brennan and other Clannad folk.

Fallon made a demo for composer David Downes, who was then working on the theory of Celtic Women. Downes contacted Fallon and asked if she would like to be a part of Celtic Woman, but she was expecting it to be a one-night performance. She consented and became one of the group's founding members as a singer and harpist.

Fallon appeared on the self-titled debut album Celtic Women: A New Journey and Celtic Woman: A New Journey, as well as the tie-in PBS television specials and DVDs shot in 2004, 2007, and 2006 respectively. She appeared on the inaugural North American Tour, 2006-07 A New Journey tour, and then again in 2007-08 on the second A New Journey tour.

Fallon revealed that she would leave Celtic Woman to have a full break and spend time with her family and was made a member of Celtic Woman by actress and vocalist Alex Sharpe in 2009.

Fallon appeared on Jim Brickman's "It's Beautiful World" tour and PBS special in 2009 and her second album Distant Shore was released in September of that year. This was followed by her third album, Music of Ireland, in March 2010. Welcome Home. Fallon's Celtic Christmas special and tie-in CD, titled "rla Fallon's Celtic Christmas," was the first time any former Celtic Woman actress had appeared in their own PBS special. David Archuleta, the former Celtic Woman singer who appeared onstage, sang "Do you hear what I hear"), and Fallon's final song "Here We Come A-Wassailing," which N'Mhaolchatha was also included in. This was her second Christmas album she released, the first being Winter, Fire & Snow: A Celtic Christmas Collection released in September 2010.

Fallon's Lapson: My Land, her second album in March 2011, tied in with another PBS special. Both PBS specials were produced by The Elevation Group and WNET. Lullaby Time, a solo album, was released in 2012.
