Neville Brody Life

Neville Brody (born 23 April 1957) is an English graphic designer, typographer, and art director, and is best known for his designs for artists such as Clock DVA, Cabaret Voltaire, The Bongos, and Depeche Mode.

He founded Research Studios in 1994 and is a founding member of Fontworks.

His work is on view in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection (MoMA).

He was Dean of the School of Communication at the Royal College of Art, London, from September 2018.

Early life and education

Brody was born in Southgate, London. He attended Minchenden Grammar School and studied A-Level Art, which was largely from a fine art point of view. Brody began to take a Fine Art foundation course at Hornsey College of Art in 1975.

Brody started a three-year BA in graphics at the London College of Printing in autumn 1976. The emergence of punk rock in London life inspired his work. He created posters for student concerts at the university, most notably for Pere Ubu, which is funded by the Human League.

His first-year thesis was based on a comparison between Dadaism and pop art.
