Michelle Patricia Gayle (born 2 February 1971) is a British singer, songwriter, actress, and author.
Gayle, a soul and R&B singer, made a name for herself in the 1990s.
She has had seven top 40 singles in the UK Singles Chart, with her two biggest hits to date being "Sweetness" and "Do You Know" (number 4, September 1994).

Musical career
Gayle performed with R-MOR-FUS, a rap group that performed at various clubs and low-key venues before she found commercial success. Gayle signed with RCA Records in 1993, when she was still on the cast of EastEnders. She debuts her single "Looking Up" at number 11 on the charts. "Sweetness," her best-selling single to date, topped the UK Singles Chart by 16 weeks and was certified silver, with more than 100,000 copies sold. Gayle achieved more success in 1994 with the number-26 hit "I'll Find You,"; in 1995 with the number-16 "Freedom"; and the number-11 "Please Just Be With You" sampled The Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" and Chic's "Good Times." These five singles were taken from Gayle's self-titled debut album Michelle Gayle, which was released in 1994 and ranked at number 30 on the UK Albums Chart and was rated gold.
