Career
White became a part-time member of A Tribe Called Quest in the late 1980s. Despite the fact that he did not rhyme on the albums, he came up with the idea for "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo," the group's first album's first single. He also contributed to versions of "Push It Along," "Youthful Expression," and "Can I Kick It?" He appeared in five of the group's 13 music videos. He left the club in 1991 to attend culinary school, but he continued to produce songs with DJ Rasta Root and bandmate Phife Dawg until the latter's death in 2016.
He had only appeared on one album, People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, before returning for the last album in 2016. He had verses on his second album, The Low End Theory, but he left the group during the recording sessions and his verses did not make it to the final cut. In a skit on Midnight Marauders, he was mentioned; the members of the organization are listed followed by the word "A, E, O, U, and occasionally Y," with the final letter referring to the fact that White was only an occasional member. On Phife Dawg's solo album Ventilation: Da LP, he was also listed.
White appeared on De La Soul's 1991 album "Pease Porridge," which also featured several other Native Tongues emcees.
During its appearance at the Bumbershoot festival in 2006, White performed on stage with A Tribe Called Quest. Head-Roc, a Washington, D.C.-based rapper, is also the manager of Head-Roc, a Washington, D.C.-based rapper.
In VH1's fourth annual Hip Hop Honors, he was recognized alongside the majority of A Tribe Called Quest. Jarobi appeared with three other A Tribe Called Quest performers on stage at the Rock the Bells concert festival in August 2010. In 2016, he returned to appear on the final A Tribe Called Quest album, We Got It From Here... Thank You 4 Your Service.
