Michel Goulet Career

Playing career

During the 1978-1979 season, Goulet played for the Birmingham Bulls of the West Coast in which he scored 28 goals and 58 points. Goulet was considered eligible for the 1979 entry draft following the NHL-WHA merger, and the Quebec Nordiques selected him.

Goulet was one of the NHL's most prolific scorers in the 1980s. He scored 50 goals in a season in four years, beginning with the 1982–83 season and becoming one of the team's keystones alongside the 'Astn' brothers.

Goulet, along with goalie Greg Millen and a sixth round pick at 1991 NHL entry draft for Everett Sanipass, Dan Vincelette, and Mario Doyon, suffered to miss the playoffs for the second straight season during the 1989-1990 season, when the Nordiques posted a record of 12 victories, 61 losses, and seven ties, and failed to make the playoffs for the second straight season.

Goulet crashed into the end boards during a game at the Montreal Forum on March 16, 1994, causing severe concussion. Goulet resigned from the NHL right after, as a result of the incident.
