Michael Barrymore Life

Michael Ciaran Parker (born 4 May 1952), better known by his stage name Michael Barrymore, is an English comedian and television host of game shows and light entertainment programs on British television in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.

These included Strike It Lucky, My Kind of People, My Kind of Music, and Kids.

He dominated the Royal Variety Show in 1993. Several times, Barrymore was voted the UK's most popular television actor and became one of television's top-paid celebrities.

He appeared on both his own variety show Barrymore and the well-known game show Strike It Lucky.

He appeared in Bob Martin, a comedy comedy in which he appeared in the title role of a failing television game-show host from 2000 to 2001.

Barrymore has appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and other shows including The Friday Night Project, Graham Norton's Bigger Picture, This Morning, and The Sharon Osbourne Show, since his inception in the mid-1990s. Stuart Lubbock's death in 2001 after a party at Barrymore's house ended his television career effectively.

Several years ago, Barrymore was the subject of police probes and court action over the incident.

Early life

Born Michael Ciaran Parker of Bermondsey and his two older siblings lived on the Dickens estate for the first 18 years of his life. His father died when Barrymore was 11 years old and they never saw each other again. Barrymore and his siblings were raised in the Roman Catholic faith of their Irish mother, Margaret.

Personal life

Cheryl Cocklin, Barrymore's ex wife, appeared in a West End theatre performance in 1974. They married in 1976.

Cocklin became his boss, and he was the brains behind Barrymore's ascension to fame. Cocklin later said that Barrymore had problems with alcohol and depression, and that as a result of her assault at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, she was placed on the "at risk" registry, which is monitored by British police.

Barrymore suffered with increasing alcoholism during his heyday. Barrymore claims he wanted to come help but Cheryl reassured him regularly that "You are not (alcoholic). Don't be stupid.

"Start broadcasting the news – I'm gay today," he performed at The White Swan gay bar in London's East End in mid-1995, during his fame. Every tabloid newspaper had published its own interpretation of the evening's activities, including an untrue assertion that Barrymore had thrown away his wedding ring within 48 hours.

Barrymore attended the National Television Awards in November 1995. Following which he broke with Cheryl, he announced himself gay and "no longer wanted to live a lie" at an after-show party on a late night radio show. Later, she said that Barrymore took the initiative but did not inform her because of his discussions with Diana, the Princess of Wales.

Cheryl and Michael divorced in 1997 after several failed reunions; she went on to write Catch a Falling Star, a 2002 autobiography that included the characters of their traumatic break. The couple had no contact after, and Cheryl, at her request, had ceased to be Barrymore's agent or boss. In his 2006 autobiography Awight Now: Setting the Record Straight Cheryl was a control freak who supervised his every move, including his clothes, and she'd designed the character "Michael Barrymore," which later led him to alcohol, cocaine, and gay affairs. Barrymore said in an interview in 2002 that he had an alcohol use and was in recovery.

Cheryl died of lung cancer at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in St John's Wood on April 1, 2005.

Michael Barrymore Career

Career

Barrymore spent his youth at Butlins holiday camps and then in London's West End theatre shows, where he first met dancer and lifelong friend Cheryl St Claire in 1974. They married in 1976. Cheryl, the boss and mastermind behind Barrymore's fame, appeared on New Faces' 1975 issue and then became a regular panelist on Blankety Blank and then as the warm-up man for Larry Grayson's Generation Game and then for Little and Large theatre shows. Barrymore, among others, used to do impressions of John Cleese and Norman Wisdom in the early days.

Barrymore came to fame by appearing on Blankety Blank and Who Do You Do? His television career began in 1983 with The Michael Barrymore Show, starring young Nicholas Lyndhurst, and he appeared in Russ Abbott's Madhouse as various characters between 1981 and 1982. He left LWT, the producer of The Michael Barrymore Show, after only one series; he later landed the presenter's role on BBC gameshow, Get Set Go! He appeared in a number of Royal Variety Performance shows, his first appearance being in 1983. In 1986, he became the host of ITV gameshow Strike It Rich (which later became Strike It Rich), and the show gained in advance over the years, with 18 million viewers watching them at its peak.

This was Barrymore's first successful presenting role (Get Set Go! After only one series, it was cancelled, which led to Barrymore's own light entertainment show in 1991. However, before that, he had his own show between 1988 and 1989; Michael Barrymore's Saturday Night Output; the theme tune, "Doin' the Crab," had been released as a single on television in Jersey; and, "Doin' the Crab" had been released in 1987 as a single.

Barrymore appeared on his own show called Barrymore in 1991, where he interacted with guests, performed his comedy routines, and joined other guests on the show. The show spanned the 1990s, 2000, and was regularly nominated for accolades over the years in the United Kingdom. Cliff Richard, Uri Geller, and Spike Milligan were among the many famous guests on Barrymore, including Cliff Richard, Uri Geller, and Spike Milligan.

Following his appearance on "Will You Actually Love Me Tomorrow" with soldiers, he has since appeared on television and on stage. The Royal Variety Show brought the house down and cemented Barrymore's place at the forefront of the British people. Barrymore became well-known for his catchphrase of "Awight." "On making his entrance and Strike It Lucky," says the singer, "top, middle or bottom?"

and "What is a hot spot not?

"Not a good spot," the studio audience will reply, "not a good spot." Barrymore had a public confrontation with heroin use following the success of the previous week. In 1994, he went into heroin and heroin use, leading to his release of heroin and opioid use. After a few months, he moved on to write a best-selling book about his experiences, including rehab, and he also went on a stage tour called Back in Business in 1994.

He recovered his fame and created another batch of Barrymore, as well as a new series called My Kind of People. He came out as gay on August 19, 1995 and separated from his wife in 1996. Strike It Lucky, now called Strike It Rich, and another Barrymore story, are among his new Strike It Lucky series. More versions of Strike It Rich and Barrymore were shown in 1997, and he also appeared in Spice World as Mr. Yoko. Step 2.

My Kind of People and Game Show My Kind of Music followed Barrymore and Strike It Rich's triumph. Barrymore was cancelled in 1997 after a decline in ratings (it later returned in 2000). He went on to new projects with Kids Say the Funniest Things, Animals Do the Funniest Things, and Barrymore on Broadway. In 2000, Barrymore earned the National Television Award for Most Popular Entertainment Presenter five out of the first six years, the first six years, and the sixth NTAs were awarded in 2000. He was the last winner of the honor before Ant and Dec, who have been named Most Popular Entertainment Presenter (or, since 2016, Most Popular TV Presenter) every year since the 7th NTAs in 2001 (or, since 2016) every year, 19 in total as of January 2020.

He produced two new series entitled My Kind of Music and Kids in 1998, as well as other Strike It Rich. In 2000, newer versions of all three series were shown, and a new series of Barrymore was released and seen in Barrymore. Barrymore debuted in Bob Martin, where he played Bob Martin; he also appeared in two series of the comedy (2000–01). Barrymore produced a second series of Kids Say the Funniest Things, which aired in late 2000 and a fourth series of My Kind of Music, which was also on the air at the time when Stuart Lubbock died in Barrymore's pool on March 31, 2001. Following Lubbock's death, both Bob Martin and My Kind of Music stayed on air, but although the probe was ongoing, there were no further programs for ITV. When asked by the papers, they had consistently supported him and just waited for investigations to conclude. Barrymore received a drugs warning in October 2001 and began recording a new series of My Kind of Music.

Career revivals

Following the unveiling of Lubbock's death, ITV ended Barrymore's deal and his television career came to an end. The Funniest Things filmed prior to the scandal were removed from the ITV program and never broadcast, according to a new series of Kids. The BBC has confirmed that Barrymore's life story will not be published. Barrymore performed a one-man performance at Wyndham's Theatre in September 2003, which then ceased after a few days. Shaun Davis, his partner, later moved to New Zealand to live with him. Since being a member of New Zealand and Australia, he has appeared on live stage shows. In 2005, he appeared in Napier, New Zealand, in Chicago.

He had a difficult relationship with housemate George Galloway, which culminated in a 20-minute tense debate between the two guys. He came in second place to Chantelle Houghton on January 27, 2006.

Barrymore, who is still living in the United Kingdom, has been invited to be the guest host on Channel 4's The Friday Night Project, which was broadcast on February 3, 2006. This will be the last time Barrymore appeared on a show as the host. Barrymore's appearance on Big Brother sparked rumors that he was in discussions with a number of television outlets over the possibility of new shows, but no one knew about it. Barrymore's appearance on the Friday Night Project is the last time he has hosted a primetime television program.

Barrymore would appear in Bill Kenwright's production of Scrooge – The Musical, a Christmas 2006 debut. He played the lead role at the Empire Theatre in Sunderland, but the production's planned transfer to the West End was postponed. In the stage play Surviving Spike, Barrymore played comedian and writer Spike Milligan in January 2008. It appeared in Windsor and then the Edinburgh Fringe, but the West End transfer was cancelled once more. In February 2010, he appeared on Irish television on The Saturday Night Show, where he unexpectedly performed a number of bizarre and tense antics, including pretending to be Jedward's father. Barrymore revealed that he had fallen in love with a woman in May 2010. As he said he would have a party to celebrate his "coming back in," Barrymore was filming an episode of Channel 4's Come Dine With Me, with former Generation Game host Anthea Redfern and presenters Pat Sharp and Jenny Powell.

His personal profile, especially in the tabloid press, is still negative. He was found guilty of cocaine use in December 2011 and fined £780. Despite that Strike It Rich and Strike It Lucky have been repeated on the digital channel Challenge, his entertainment programs, such as Barrymore and My Kind of People, are never repeated anywhere, and his work has never been included on clip shows, such as those commemorating ITV's 50th anniversary or the 100th anniversary of the London Palladium.

He spent his remaining 2012 hours on local radio stations and on hospital radio. On Greg Scott's breakfast show on February 25, 2012, one of his all-time favorite television guests, Fiona Iverson, who had appeared on his program twenty years ago was surprised to meet Fiona Iverson, one of his all-time favorite television guests.

For the second time, Barrymore appeared on RTÉ's The Saturday Night Show for the second time, his first appearance on this show was in February 2010. On Twitter, he announced that a pilot for My Kind of Twits would be filming in May, but that did not happen. Barrymore appeared on The Nolan Show in June 2013.

Michael appeared on Piers Morgan Life Stories in March 2019, generating a warm welcome and admiration for the TV actor.

In September 2019, it was announced that Barrymore will be the sixth installment of ITV's Dancing on Ice, which will premiere in January 2020. However, he was forced to leave due to a fractured hand and was replaced by former Blue Peter host Radzi Chinyanganya on December 18, 2019.

Michael joined Tik Tok in June 2021 and attracted over half a million followers with a spectacular reception.
