Megan Anderson (born 11 February 1990) is an Australian mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is the current Invicta Featherweight champion.
Early life
Anderson was born and raised on the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia. She attended All Saints Anglican School during her childhood and then migrated to Canberra at the start of 2008 to join the Australian Army after graduating from high school. She was discharged after two and a half years in the military when it was discovered she had attempted suicide and was later hospitalized. She returned to the Gold Coast and worked as a receptionist while being involved in the local boxing scene. She was introduced to mixed martial arts through her boxing links and began training in 2013.
Mixed martial arts career
Anderson made her pro MMA debut in November 2013, losing to Zoie Shypeiweis. Anderson will continue to win and one loss over the next two years before signing to Invicta Fighting Championships.
Anderson met Cindy Dandois at Invicta FC 14: Evinger vs. Kianzad on her first appearance at Invicta FC 14 in September 2015. Submission was the result of her defeat (triangle choke). Anderson went on to win three times in the competition.
Anderson took on Charmaine Tweet in January 2017 for the Interim Invicta FC Featherweight Championship at Invicta FC 21. In the second round, she defeated TKO by TKO. After Cris Cyborg vacated her belt, Anderson was promoted from Interim to undisputed Featherweight Champion.
Anderson was due to defend her undisputed title against Helena Kolesnyk at Invicta FC 24, but the game did not take place until the UFC later signed Anderson.
Anderson was supposed to make her promotional debut against Cris Cyborg at UFC 214 on July 29, 2017. Anderson stayed out of the fight on June 27th, citing "personal reasons" as the reason. Tonya Evinger had her replaced her.
Anderson was defeated at UFC 225 on June 9, 2018 in Holly Holm. She was disqualified by a majority decision in the fight.
Anderson was defeated by Cat Zingano at UFC 232 on December 29, 2018. She won the first round by a technical knockout after a kick to Zingano caused an eye injury that didn't allow her to continue.

Anderson was supposed to face Amanda Nunes in the UFC Women's Featherweight Championship at UFC 256 on December 12, 2020. However, Nunes pulled out due to an undisclosed injury and the match was postponed to 2021. The pair was rescheduled for 6 March 2021 at UFC 259. In round one, she lost the fight due to a triangle armbar.
The title match was the last fight of her governing six-fight deal, and the company did not renew it, making her a free agent.
