Max Benitz (born 14 March 1985) is an English writer, journalist, and former film and television actor.
Education
Benitz was born in London. He attended Harrow School from 1998 to 2003, where he appeared in student productions of As You Like It, Hamlet, The Pirates of Penzance, and Me and My Girl. He spent two weeks at The Spectator magazine as a filing clerk. After seeing his appearance in the film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Boris Johnson, then editor of the Spectator, wrote that Benitz had "much the same dash and dispatch [as Calamy] in rescuing my Toyota from the car pound.
Benitz continued to study history at the University of Edinburgh. He completed a nine-month course at University of Calcutta, after which he and friend and fellow University of Edinburgh student George Vlasto embarked on a journey from Calcutta to London by bicycle in 2007. The trip, which was carried out in a Hindustan Ambassador vehicle, took ten weeks and covered 9,000 miles (14,000 kilometers) along a route that cut through India, Pakistan, China, Central Asia, Turkey, and Europe. They raised more than £12,000 for the charities Future Hope in Calcutta and Royal Marsden Hospital on behalf of homeless children as part of their trip.

Acting career
In the 2003 film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Benitz was a youth when he appeared in what may be his best known role as Midshipman Peter Calamy. Although a youth, he made his first appearance in Thomas Hughes' 2005 television film "British Schooldays" as Huband. In the two-part episode "Sins of the Father" of the tenth series of Trial & Retribution, Benitz appeared prominently as James Harrogate.
Benitz, who has been focusing on his journalism career, has only appeared in the 2014 film The Water Diviner.
