Matt Hamilton Career

Racing career

Between 1999 and 2005, Hamilton competed in karting. In 2005, he received a Formula BMW scholarship, which earned him access to the 2006 Formula BMW UK season. In 2007, he competed in Formula Palmer Audi. He won the first race of the season at Silverstone and was on pole position for the second. Hamilton was trapped on the start line due to a fast-changing red starting light. Several unsighted people were hit and spun around, and a car from the back of the grid was able to hit the track at full throttle; it was then spun around at full throttle. Hamilton was taken from the cockpit and airlifted to a hospital in Coventry with a broken right femur. He competed in FPA and the British Formula Ford Championship in 2008. In 2009, he made his GT racing debut at Silverstone Motorsports in the FIA GT4 European Cup, a Ginetta G50.

He raced in the final two rounds of the 2009 British Touring Car Championship in a TH Motorsport-prepared Honda Civic and then continued in the same vehicle for 2010. He raised funds for Help For Heroes at the season's first meeting in Thruxton. Due to budgetary constraints, he was unable to participate in the Croft round of the championship. Hamilton signed for THM Racing in March 2014, the Watford-based Volkswagen Racing Cup outfit that has been sponsored by the German giant Volkswagen Group.
