He has twice been named Best Actor in the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro for his appearances in Midnight (1998) and O Auto da Compadecida (2000), as well as O Auto da Compadecida (2000). In 2003, he received the Best Actor award for Mango Yellow at XIII Cine Ceará. He made his directorial debut with The Dead Girl's Feast in 2008.
