Marta Ehrlich Life

Marta Ehrlich (27 April 1910 – 30 March 1980) was a Croatian painter. Ehrlich was born in Zagreb on April 27, 1910.

She was born in Ernest and Erna Ehrlich's wealthy Jewish family.

Her father was a building contractor, and her mother was a school coach.

Ehrlich's uncle, Hugo Ehrlich, and her aunt, Mira Klobucar, were among her Zagreb relatives; her uncle was Hugo Ehrlich, and her aunt was Mira Klobucar.

Ehrlich lived with her parents and two siblings at the Villa in Tukanac, which was designed by her uncle Hugo Ehrlich before World War II.

She attended elementary and high school in Zagreb.

In 1934, Ehrlich graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb.

Ehrlich travelled to Paris in 1935, where she was perfecting her skills in the various painting techniques.

She lived in Paris for three years before returning to Zagreb.

She took private lessons from Vladimir Becic after returning to Zagreb.

Becic's influence was evident in Ehrlich's beginnings in painting.

Ehrlich created a stunning 227 paintings during her career, making them a vital piece of Croatian visual art.

Ehrlich was married to Kamilo Tompa, a painter with whom she lived and worked at the house in ubiceva street.

She lived until 1978, two years before she took her own life.

Marta Tompa, Ehrlich, was buried in Mirogoj Cemetery.
