Marques Houston Career

Music career

Houston became a founding member of R&B's Immature (also known as IMx). Jerome "Romeo" Jones and Don "Half Pint" Santos were among the group's leaders, as well as Chris Stokes, who is their boss. Houston went by the name "batman" during the time. IMx (1999) and IMx (2001), the group underwent a name change in 1999, releasing two albums under the IMx brand: Introducing IMx (1999) and IMx (2001). The company also expanded into acting and appeared on shows such as A Different World and Sister, Sister. They produced songs for soundtracks to the films House Party 3 and House Party 4: Down to the Last Minute before disbanding in 2002.

Houston began working as a freelancer in 2003. On October 21, 2003, Marques Houston, who was born in Texas, released his debut album, MH. The album contained the singles "That Girl," "Clubbin" (featuring Joe Budden and R. Kelly), "Pop That Booty" (featuring Jermaine Dupri) and "Because of You." MH reached number 20 on the Billboard 200 and number 5 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, placing it at number 20 in the United States charts, and at number 5 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Houston's second solo album, Naked, was released on May 24, 2005. "All Because of You" (featuring Young Rome), "Naked," and "Sex Wit You" were among the album's tracks. Naked soared to number 13 on the Billboard and debuted at number 5 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, peaking at number 13 on the Billboard and debuting at number five.

On March 20, 2007, Houston released Veteran, his third solo album. The album contained the singles "Like This" (featuring Yung Joc), "Favorite Girl," "Circle," and "Wonderful." Veteran debuted (and peaked) at number 5 on the Billboard 200 and debuted at number 1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums, marking the first number one solo album from Houston.

On September 29, 2009, Houston released Mr. Houston, Houston's fourth solo album. "I Love Her" and "Sunset" were among the singles on display. In 2008, the singer's "Body" and "Date" album videos were released online by the singer. In 2009, "How I Do" and "Case of You" were the first video clips, followed by a video for "Tonight" in 2010. Houston unveiled his fifth studio album, Mattress Music, on September 14, 2010, which featured the singles "Kickin & Screamin" and "Pullin' On Her Hair." In 2011, a video for "Ghetto Angel" appeared on a third. IMx wanted to record another group album together for 2011.

Houston revealed that a new studio album, Famous, was set to be unveiled on August 27. As a promotional preview, Marques released "Speechless" as a free digital download. "Give Your Love a Try" was the first single off the album, and it was available on iTunes.

Following the success of his previous album, Houston reunited with IMx and did some touring in lieu of releasing a new single "Let Me Find Out" in late 2014. He released "Need You" from the soundtrack of his film Will to Love in the next year.

Houston introduced "Complete Me" to digital/streaming outlets in 2016. In September, he premiered a music video for the song. The track was supposed to be the first single off his album White Party and is due to be released later this year. This album, on the other hand, was never released.

In 2017, he recorded a trio of new songs for the film 'Til Death Do Us Part,' for which he wrote the screenplay. As a single from the soundtrack, his song "Together" was released. On February 4, 2022, Houston released Me, a new album.

Acting career

Houston made his acting debut in the animated film Bébé's Kids (1992), in which he played Khalil, the king and the oldest child of the titular "Bébé's Kids." Houston later appeared in House Party 3 (1994), where he appeared alongside Jerome "Romeo" Jones and Don "Half Pint" Santos, a fictional representation of himself. They portrayed Kid's troubled younger cousins who want to become musicians in the film. Houston's breakthrough came when he appeared in the television comedy show Sister, Sisters, as the next-door neighbor of identical twin sisters Tia Landry and Tamera Campbell. Marques appeared on five of the show's six seasons. During the fifth season, the show brought his character out of the script, but he made a guest appearance in the series finale. In 1997, he appeared in the film "Good Burger," a spin-off from a sketch on the Nickelodeon show "All That" starring Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. Jake, Kenan's cousin, was the protagonist. Houston and his IMx (formerly Immature) band members appeared in Destiny's Child's Child's Music Video for the single "No, No, No. No. No Part 1") off their 1998 self-titled debut album. Marques appeared in Destiny's Child's video version of "Jumpin', Jumpin" directed by Joseph Kahn in 2000, right after Houston's stint on Sisters and Sisters ended.

In the 2004 film You Got Served, Elgin Barrett Eugene Smith III appeared as Elgin Barrett Eugene Smith III. Following You Get Served, he portrayed Dumb Donald in the film version of Fat Albert, based on Bill Cosby's famous cartoon series Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. Kevin Barnes appeared in his own television series, Cuts, from 2005 to 2006, which was a spin-off of One on One. Despite good ratings, the show only lasted two seasons due to UPN merging with The WB to become The CW, which caused Cuts and several other UPN shows to be cancelled. Houston appeared in the horror film Somebody Help Me in 2007. In 2010, he appeared in Anybody Help Me 2 for the second time. Battlefield America, a youth hip hop dance war film released in 2012, was directed by Houston. After receiving a community service term, Sean Lewis, an ad executive who works as a dance instructor, is portrayed in the film; however, he does not dance. In 2016, he appeared on A Weekend With The Family, alongside Karrueche Tran. Houston reunited with Sister, Sister co-star Tamera Mowry on the daytime talk show The Real (also with Tia Mowry in 2017) for two episodes in 2015.
