Mark Alan Dacascos (born February 26, 1964) is an American actor and martial artist.

Between the ages of 7 and 18, he won many karate and kung fu championships.

He is best known for his roles as Mani in Brotherhood of the Wolf, Toby Wong in Cradle 2 the Grave, and John Wick's defining role in Crying Freeman and Zero. Dacascos appeared on Food Network's Iron Chef America beginning in January 2005.

In the original Japanese version, Takeshi Kaga played the character.

Wo Fat's appearance in the CBS series Mortal Kombat: Legacy, Kung Lao, Eric Draven in The Crow: Stairway to Heaven and Eubulon in Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight.

He appeared in Dancing with the Stars' ninth season.

Early life

Dacascos was born in Oahu, Hawaii, on February 26, 1964. Al Dacascos, his father, is from Hawaii and is a martial arts instructor whose parents came from the Philippines and were of Chinese, Filipino, and Spanish origins. Moriko McVey-Murray, his biological mother, is of Irish and Japanese origins. Several members of his mother's family were killed in the bombing of Hiroshima, according to Samurai's History Channel presentation. Malia Bernal, an award-winning martial artist, is his stepmother. He attended Los Angeles Valley College, where he was on the gymnastics team. He attended Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. He is an expert in Wun Hop Kuen Do, his father's martial arts style. He has worked on Muay Thai, capoeira, and Wushu.

Personal life

Julie Condra, a woman who appeared with him in Crying Freeman, is married to Dacascos. They have three children: two sons and a daughter.

Dacascos made an actor after being discovered walking down the street in San Francisco's Chinatown by Chris Lee (assist director) and Rexall Chinn (hairstylist), who were at the time working with director Wayne Wang. He appeared in Dim Sum: A Little Bit of Heart, and although his scenes were cut from the final film, he went on to establish a film and television career primarily playing martial artists. Victor Lee, the Red Ranger, was originally supposed to play in Bio-Man, Haim Saban's adaptation of Choudenshi Bioman. The show was not on display at the time, but it was later developed into Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Louis, a capoeira master who takes a high school's potential failures and turns their lives around by teaching them the Brazilian martial art based on the West African martial art, was his breakout role in the 1993 film Only the Strong. Dacascos co-starred Jimmy and Billy Lee, respectively in the film Double Dragon, which is based on the same name in the United States, for the next year.

He plays the role of Chairman of Iron Chef America and Iron Chef Australia. He is the nephew of Takeshi Kaga, the original Iron Chef Chairman.

He has appeared in several action films, including Drive, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Crying Freeman, and Cradle 2 the Grave, in which he squared off against Jet Li. He has appeared in three video games, including voice acting in Stranglehold, Live Acting in Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom, and digitally recreating The Chairman in the Iron Chef America: Supreme Cuisine video game for Wii.

In 2002, Dacascos was nominated for the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Brotherhood of the Wolf. He appeared in the television series The Crow: Stairway to Heaven, which was a sequel to the 1994 film The Crow. He also appears on the children's television show Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, where he depicts Eubulon, the Advent Master, mentor of the Kamen Riders, and designer of the Advent Decks.

Dacascos appeared on the CBS show Hawaii Five-0 as Wo Fat. In the second season of YouTube's Mortal Kombat: Legacy, Kung Lao appeared. Mr. Giyera, Hydra's Inhuman servant who can manipulate inanimate objects, is a male scientist who can manipulate inanimate objects.

Dacascos played Zero, a lead antagonist in John Wick's action thriller film Chapter 3 – In May 2019, Dacascos played Zero, a leading antagonist. He appeared in a recurring role on Netflix's Wu Assassins. In Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend, which was released on Netflix in June 2022, he has reprised his role as the Chairman of the Iron Chef series.
