Maria Menounos (born June 8, 1978) is an American entertainment journalist, television presenter, and businesswoman.

She has hosted Extra and E!

News, and worked as a television reporter for Today, Access Hollywood, and co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens, Greece.

She co-created and is now CEO of AfterBuzz TV, an online podcasting website.

She is currently signed to WWE, where she has been active as an ambassador since 2013.

Maria Menounos is the host of the podcast Conversations.

Early life

Menounos was born in Medford, Massachusetts, to Greek immigrant parents Costas and Litsa Menounos, who worked as janitors in a Boston nightclub. Peter, she has a younger brother. In Somerville, Massachusetts, the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church Menounos attended the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church. She also attended Medford High School in Medford.

Menounos began to compete in beauty pageants in 1995. During the preliminary competition, she earned the title of Miss Massachusetts Teen USA, and she competed at Miss Teen USA, where she finished in the top 15 with an honorary mention. In preliminary exams, Menounos ranked 13th. She competed for Miss Massachusetts USA 2000, and she was the first runner-up.

Menounos attended Emerson College in Boston, where she was a member of Emerson Independent Video, a Boston-based nonprofit. In 2000, she graduated from Emerson.

Personal life

Menounos was posed nude in the May issue of Allure magazine in 2012.

Menounos told Howard Stern that she had previously been sexually assaulted by two different doctors during medical examinations.

She underwent surgery for a meningioma, an intracranial tumor, in June 2017.

In a 2017 New Year's celebrations hosted by Steve Harvey, Menounos married Keven Undergaro in Times Square, and then again in a 2018 Orthodox wedding in Akovos, Greece.

Menounos worked as a reporter for Channel One News during her senior year at Emerson. She traveled to El Salvador to cover the January 2001 and February 2001 earthquakes, interviewed NATO aircrew members aboard an E-3 AWACS plane during the military alliance's Operation Eagle Assist, and interviewed President George W. Bush.

Menounos was hired as a reporter by Entertainment Tonight in 2002, where she covered movies, music, and fashion. She left the program in 2005 to concentrate on her acting career, but she will return to Access Hollywood as a reporter in fall. She went on to co-host a few episodes of the Today show in the late summer and fall of 2006, as well as in April 2007. Menounos appeared on Punk'd's November 30 episode, where she was one of several celebrities caught in the awkward and embarrassing "Red Carpet Interviews" in 2003.

Menounos appeared in an episode of UPN's One on One as Glenda, an eccentric, self-proclaimed "Fairy Godmother to the Stars," on the television show "One on One. She appeared in the comedy book film Fantastic Four, where she played a nurse who is romanced by the Human Torch, starring Chris Evans. Menounos appeared and produced Adventures of Serial Buddies, the first serial killer buddy comedy to be released.

Menounos produced In the Land of Merry Misfits, an independent film fairy tale at the age of 17. While attending Emerson College with director Keven Undergaro, then head writer for MTV's Singled Out, Menounos produced the 35 mm feature film. The film's negative was stolen and no film was completed, but her reporting work at Channel One News and MTV helped her land her reporting position. However, menounos never forgot the film or the film's producer. Menounos personally funded the restoration and restoration of the film, which was directed by John Waters and starred an eclectic group in the Waters vein, including former WWE champion Bob Backlund, actor Josie Davis of the TV show Charles in Charge and B-movie icon Randal Malone. Despite suffering two cracked ribs during preparations for Dancing with the Stars, Menounos and Kelly were able to defeat Phoenix and Torres on April 1, 2012, beating Phoenix and Torres, with Menounos winning Phoenix.

Backlund was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 6, 2013. Brie Bella and Eva Marie were defeated by SummerSlam Axxess on August 18, 2013.

Menounos appeared in the crowd and later in a backstage interview with Stephanie McMahon, who accepted Menounos' challenge for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on August 17, 2014. Menounos was actually nominated in the first place by McMahon's father and chairman of WWE Vince McMahon.
