Andrew Alfred Scott (born April 28, 1978) is a Canadian actor, realtor, and entrepreneur best known as the co-host on the TV show Property Brothers (along with his twin brother Jonathan).

Drew is the agent and Jonathan as the contractor in Cineflix Media's home renovation initiative.

Several spinoffs have resulted from the show's popularity, including Buying and Selling, Brother vs.

At Home, Brother, Property Brothers: At Home, and Property Brothers: Forever Home.

Scott Brothers Entertainment, along with his two brothers, is also a co-founder of Scott Brothers Entertainment, which produces and produces TV shows, films, and digital media.

In addition, the twins have launched Scott Living and its affiliate, Dream Homes, which also participates in charitable and philanthropic causes.

Linda Phan and his partner, Linda Phan, live in Los Angeles.

The couple appeared on HGTV as Home Brothers at Home: Drew's Honeymoon House, which chronicled the home's renovations, as well as a show on TLC called Drew and Linda Says Doing, which chronicled the festivities around their May 2018 wedding in Italy.

Early life

Drew Scott was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on April 28, 1978, the youngest of brothers James Daniel (by two years) and his identical twin brother Jonathan (by four minutes). His birth was a surprise to his parents—Jim and Joanne Scott—who had no idea she was giving birth to a single child.

Jim's father immigrated from Scotland as a child with aspirations of being the kind of cowboy he had seen on television. He served as an actor, stuntman, and assistant director until the late 1970s. He had decided to concentrate on raising his family, and the family had relocated to a horse farm in Maple Ridge, Texas.

While Joanne continued her work as a paralegal in downtown Vancouver, she worked as a youth counsellor. On the twins' seventh birthday, their father encouraged them to work, so they started JAM, making nylon covered hangers. They went from door to door until a woman selling American paraphernalia in Japan ordered thousands.

James will often renovate their houses, and the boys will be paid as early as eight years old to install and repair fences, decks, and barns. The twins would often rearrange the furniture in their families' house even as children. Drew excelled in athletics, both coaching and playing on the basketball and volleyball teams as youth. The family migrated to Alberta after graduation, just as the twins were heading to Calgary to attend university.

Personal life

In 2010, Drew met Linda Phan, his wife, at a Toronto Fashion Week function. They lived together in the Las Vegas home that Drew also shares with his twin starting in 2014. However, Phan drives with Scott as the Creative Director of Scott Brothers Entertainment, "overseeing their digital content, product and apparel lines, and marketing efforts" is something he says about twice a year. Scott has said that he and Phan are "workaholics" and that "stepping outside the home office is the first step toward a good date." They got engaged on December 13, 2016, and were married in Italy on May 12, 2018. The ceremony featured elements of their respective Scottish and Vietnamese roots, and it was the subject of a documentary called Drew and Linda Say What I Do, which aired on TLC on June 2, 2018. Drew co-wrote (along with Victoria Shaw and Chad Carlson) and performed "You Chose Me" for his bride's wedding, as well as a accompanying music video, which was posted on YouTube on June 2, 2018. They also expressed their desire to have children. The couple announced in October 2017 that they would live in Los Angeles, California, and that they intend to raise their future children there. After a two-year fertility journey that included IUI and IVF treatments, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child in May 2022. Their son was born on May 4, 2022, and they were born on May 4, 2022.

Although Scott isn't a citizen of the United States, he has a Democratic viewpoint. In September 2016, he endorsed Hillary Clinton on his Twitter page. Tony Robbins, a life coach, also considers himself a personal hero, and he has used Robbins' "incantations"—a form of verbal concretization, to achieve his objectives.

Scott is a basketball fan. Scott grew up playing basketball with his brothers, but in a GQ interview, he was the most ardent one, with some of them spending four or five hours a day. He participated in both high school and college, and is said to have had a 43-inch vertical jump. He starred on his college basketball team but was suspended before the first season and never played in a single match. Scott has participated in numerous celebrity charity tournaments, including Josh Hutcherson's Nike 3-on-3 Basketball at L.A. Live/Staples Center. He has participated in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game twice, and he took home a trophy for the Shooting Stars Celebrity Competition in 2012.

Scott advocates for a healthier lifestyle, tracking his diet, and regularly exercising. In karate, he has a black belt. He is a fan of the Walking Dead and was invited to contribute to the show and "zombie property values" beginning in 2016.

Drew Scott Career

Career

Scott began performing in theater, improv, and sketch comedy at a young age. The twins were apprentice clowns who performed at parties and functions as children, eventually charging as much as C$100 per hour. However, Drew began to concentrate more on basketball as Jonathan's obsession with magic grew. As a youth and young adult, he also dabbled in acting, including appearances on Smallville, Breaker High, and Madison. The brothers were enrolled in the University of Calgary, and Scott, a long-serving athlete, studied kinesiology. Despite their plans to become entertainers, the twins didn't want to be "starving artists" and, after watching an informercial by Carleton Sheets, they felt that real estate investment would "ease the financial purgatory of being out-of-work actors." They decided on a seven-bedroom rental house across the street from their university after investigating the subject and first semester in college. They cleaned and repaired it, then sublet the remaining five rooms, netting a $800 per month. They assumed the house with a $250 down payment, undertook conservative renovations with the rental money, and sold it a year later for $50,000. For the next 15 years, they continued to buy and "flip" homes at high profit margins. Jonathan went to school for building and designing, and later became licensed as a builder. Drew's trade, although he did larger repairs, was mainly limited to building siding and tile. They also supported themselves with a variety of careers, including flight attendant, personal trainer, bikini store manager, busboy, website designer, and mall cop. The twins, as well as their older brother—co-founded Dividian Production Group in 2002, an independent film production company, and Drew continued acting, directing, and producing on the side.

Drew had long canceled his aspirations to play professionally due to a string of injuries, but an Alberta college recruited him in 2003. However, he was already 25 years old, but after feeling like he was going backwards and rejoined Jonathan in the real estate market after a few weeks. Drew decided to enroll in a real estate course and obtained his license in 2004, putting his attention to real estate transactions after having had several bad experiences with realtors. The twins formed Scott Real Estate Inc., a company that was created to provide customers with, if not selling, and renovating homes, as well as design assistance and staging open houses.

Despite the success he was earning as a realtor, Drew was increasingly dissatisfied that real estate was overtaking his true passion — acting — in January 2006, he moved to Vancouver. Pedro, Pedro, and he joined him in moving in with his best friend, Pedro, decided to pursue his dream in earnest. Jonathan, on the other hand, stayed in Calgary to manage the company. Scott began taking acting and voice classes, networking with influential people in the field, and climbing in the ranks on movie production crews, all while keeping a color-coded spreadsheet to track it all. As the year came to an end, the year came to an end, but he discovered himself over $100,000 in debt and not as far ahead as he had expected. In an interview with Entrepreneur magazine, Scott relates that he listened to a Jim Cuddy song named "Pull Me Through" on one sleepless night and realized that he had to go back to his roots.' Jonathan sent Jonathan an email requesting Scott Real Estate's marketing template. He obtained a realtor's license in Vancouver and opened a Scott Real Estate branch there soon. Jonathan and his partner went to Las Vegas in 2008 and began buying and renovating houses to use as rentals. Scott Real Estate had several staff in Vancouver, Calgary, and Las Vegas when the company was expanding to include offices.

Drew began presenting real estate projects with real estate themes, but most importantly with Jonathan (oftentimes) hosting gigs were being offered (oftentimes with Jonathan) hosting gigs. Later, Cineflix offered him a hosting job for a series called Realtor Idol, which was based on the American Idol style. The show never materialized, but the company's developers wanted Scott for a show tentatively titled My Dream Home with the intention of finding a female co-host. They learned he had a brother who was also involved in real estate, and the pair's filming of Property Brothers would follow. HGTV later picked up the program.

In Las Vegas in 2010, Scott and his brothers bought a condo on "The Strip," a highly concentrated urban area just south of Las Vegas. However, Jonathan and Harold purchased a joint home in 2011. Its renovations became the focus of the twins' fourth television series, Property Brothers: At Home, which aired on HGTV in the United States as well as in Canada's WNet. Since 2009, it became the most highly rated HGTV series premiere ever. Following the success of Property Brothers at Home, Scott Brothers Entertainment released another spin-off series called Property Brothers: At Home on the Ranch, where the brothers returned to their old stomping grounds in Alberta, Canada, to complete a 10-week renovation for a family friend's Rocky Mountain home. Drew and Jonathan produced and recorded two country singles that premiered during the third and fourth episodes of the series. "Hold On" and "Let the Night Shine In" were two singles released on various music websites, including iTunes, Amazon.com and Google Play. Both songs were co-written by the brothers and Nashville songwriters Victoria Shaw and Chad Carlson. On Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, "Hold On" debuted at number 38, as well as a music video with more than three million Vevo views. On January 12, 2017, the Scott Brothers released "My Home," a tribute to Eric Paslay. The song's music video, shot at the brothers' Las Vegas home, depicts a raucous house party, and features cameos from Carrot Top, RaeLynn, and Lindsay Ell. All proceeds from "My House" single sales have been donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Property Brothers at Home: Drew and his fiancée, Linda Phan, filmed a five-episode chronicle of their home in Los Angeles' 12-week renovation of their house. Jonathan and JD were among the project's volunteers. On November 22, 2017, HGTV and on HGTV Canada's November 27. The pair created Wedding Crafts with Linda, a web series in which they demonstrate do-it-yourself wedding decorations, including party menus, cocktails, rehearsal dinner invitations, table centerpieces, and wedding favors, in conjunction with the show. On November 15, the 11-part series debuted on HGTV's Facebook and Instagram pages, and will be shown on HGTV's Facebook and Instagram pages. The show's premiere week featured Drew's "best week ever" on HGTV's front page.

On December 22, 2013, the Top 50 Country Countdown, a leading American country, reached out to the brothers to host the annual program. Jonathan and Nancy O'Dell co-hosted the 2014 Rose Parade and co-hosted it with Josh Temple in 2015. In the sixteenth season of Hell's Kitchen, Drew sat with Melissa Rivers in the blue kitchen, while Jonathan sat in the red kitchen with Ashley Greene. They also built a house for the models on America's Next Top Model. Drew and Jonathan were guest presenters at the Grand Ole Opry on March 29, 2016.

Drew and Jonathan founded Scott Brothers Entertainment, a non-profit production company. In 2013, they moved the emphasis from film to producing original content for television and online platforms. Toddler vs. Toddler was released in 2013 and appeared on HGTV and W Network.com. The short Makeover Manor was produced for Funny or Die and also starred several reality stars such as David Visentin and Hilary Farr, Scott McGillivray, Bryan Baeumler, Candice Olson, and Sandra Rinomato, among others. Brothers Vs. season three and four were also produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment. Property Brothers: At Home, Brother, the show Half Price Paradise for HGTV and HGTV Canada, as well as Property Brothers: At Home. Drew has created a docu-series based on current social issues, including solar power. The show has a tentative launch date of 2018.

Drew, Jonathan, and J.D. For Corus Entertainment in Canada, the Scott Brothers hosted Off Topic on the radio. On Bob Dylan's website, an exciting video of the song "Like a Rolling Stone" was released to promote the 2013 album box set. The brothers were invited to be one of the narrator's lip-synching the lyrics.

He has continued to pursue his passion for acting; both he and his twin brother appeared in the USA Network comedy Playing House in 2015. Jonathan and his partner appeared in the first five episodes of the Tiny House Arrest webseries, which premiered on January 1, 2016, and was produced by their production company. In addition to the Scott Brothers Entertainment-produced web series Toddler Vs. Toddler, Scott has produced several episodes of Property Brothers and Buying and Selling, as well as the Scott Brothers Entertainment-produced web series Toddler Vs. Toddler.

They held a Scott Brothers-themed cruise in 2015, Sailing with the Scotts, and have another planned for December 2018. Drew and Jonathan also launched Scott Living, their first outdoor furniture collection, on QVC in 2015. The line had already exceeded US$100 million in revenue by the end of 2016, and by the end of 2016 it had crossed US$100 million. Dream Homes (a brand extension) sells high-end, tailored architecture, and home accessories for homeowners with budgets in the millions of dollars. A team of designers based out of Las Vegas has customized every aspect of the design, and design concepts are offered. In 2017, the twins relaunched all their brands under Scott Brothers Global's umbrella.

On April 4, 2016, they also published Dream Home: The Property Brothers' Ultimate Guide to Finding & Fixing Your Perfect House.
