Early life
Brigstocke is the son of Nick Brigstocke, a stockbroker from a Welsh landed gentry family, and Carol, the niece of senior Royal Air Force officer Air Marshal Sir Walter Pretty. He was born in Surrey and educated at St Edmunds School in Hindhead, Surrey, as well as King's School in Chichester, West Sussex, and Hammersmith & Fulham College in west London. He then attended University of Bristol, where he studied Drama, but not complete his degree.
Brigstocke struggled with alcohol and heroin use in his youth.
Brigstocke, 19, served on a North Sea oil rig and later as a podium dancer (being featured on Electric Circus); he used his money to travel and the experiences as inspiration for a stand-up routine.
Personal life
Brigstocke married Sophie Prideaux in 2001; they have a son and a daughter. Following his affair with Hayley Tamaddon, with whom he co-starred in the 2010 musical Spamalot, they divorced in 2013. Since April 2018, he has been in a friendship with fellow comedian Rachel Parris; they were married on December 25, 2018 and married on September 16, 2019. In August 2021, their son was born.
Brigstocke also opened The Altitude Festival, a stand-up tour in the Alps and a comedy festival called The Altitude Festival. On stage with Shlomo and Bellatrix, he has competed in beatboxing tournaments.
Live comedy career
During his time as a student at the University of Bristol, several of Brigstocke's key themes were first explored. While at Bristol, he appeared in the comedy trio Club Seals (with Dan Tetsell and Danny Robins), which later made the move to television in a series of short programs We Are History (2000-2001).
Planet Corduroy, Brigstocke's first stand-up comedy DVD, was released in November 2007.
Brigstocke and fellow skier Andrew Maxwell formed a comedy and music festival in Meribel, France, in April 2008.
Brigstocke appeared on Totally Looped, an American live improvisation show. In 2009, God Collar's second stand-up show toured.
