Rieger was born in Hannover, Lower Saxony, on June 3rd, 1999.
In 2014, he appeared on the blind auditions for the first time in The Voice Kids, a casting company. Lena Meyer-Landrut, a rapper and singer-songwriter, selected him to be a member of her team during a performance of "Can't Hold Us" by rapper Macklemore. However, Rieger did not make it to the finals.
He worked on social media to develop a fan base. In March 2017, his Instagram account gained over 1.7 million followers, and TikTok (Musical.ly) gained over 2.4 million followers. By December 2016, his YouTube channel had over 410,000 followers and more than 21 million views on his videos.
A signing session in Ulm had to be stopped by police after some supporters fainted on September 16, 2016, shortly after the release of his first album Compass.
