Lisa Eichhorn Life

Lisa Eichhorn (born February 4, 1952) is an American actress, writer, and producer.

She made her film debut in 1979 in the John Schlesinger film Yanks, for which she received two Golden Globe nominations.

Film, theatre, and television have all played a role in her international career.

Early life

Warren Eichhorn was born in Glens Falls, New York, on February 4, 1952, to Dorothy Elizabeth Golly and Frank Warren Eichhorn, and shortly thereafter, they migrated to Westbury, Long Island, with her older brother and two half-sisters. The family moved to Reading, Pennsylvania, where Eichhorn later attended Mt. Penn High School is a college of Pennsylvania. She left high school in Svolvr, Norway, as a Rotary International Exchange student, and graduated from Mt. In 1970, Penn was out of place in absentia.

Eichhorn began studying at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, studying a variety of subjects. She soon realized that her passion was both drama and English, and these two subjects became her passion. She left Ontario after two years to study at St. Peter' College in Oxford, Oxford, on a year-long Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship, although this was not as an accepted student of the University of Statu Pupillari.

Eichhorn first met Alan Rickman at a cocktail party while at Oxford. Rickman encouraged her to apply for the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), which she was accepted in 1975.

Personal life

At RADA, Eichhorn substituted for her stage fighting instructor John Curless in 1976. They were married for a year and a half. Eichhorn met makeup artist Ben Nye, Jr. while filming Cutter's Way in 1979. They married in 1981 and had a daughter Emily Eichhorn-Nye (born 1981). In 1986, the two families divorced. Eichhorn met Edward M. Ferguson III, who lived in New York and Los Angeles until 2000. When establishing her company, GiftHorse Productions, in 2003, Eichhorn met solicitor Richard Moxon. They married in August 2006 but were divorced in 2012.

Career

Eichhorn began rehearsals for the Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch, immediately after graduating from RADA in 1977, playing Ophelia in Hamlet. This was followed by a wide variety of regional projects, including Stop the World - I Want to Get Off for the Queen's Theatre, Rosalind in As You Like It on the BBC, and Elaine Stritch in The Fatal Weakness at the Theatre Royal, Windsor.

Eichhorn met with John Schlesinger in December 1977 for the role of Lancashire shopgirl Jean Moreton in his wartime romance, Yanks. She told him she was British, and he gave her a screen test and, later, the role. Despite the fact that Eichhorn felt she was ultimately responsible for reminding Schlesinger that she was actually American, the singer maintained that she was his choice regardless of her nationality. Eichhorn received two Golden Globe awards for her role in Yanks: Best Actress and Best New Star.

Eichhorn travelled to Boston to play Gertrude Wentworth in Merchant-Ivory's The Europeans, winning a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress the day after filming wrapped on Yanks.

Eichhorn made a few television appearances in London before transferring to Hollywood, where she co-starred with actor Treat Williams on her first American film, Why Would I Lie? The Fabricator was originally named The Fabricator.) Around this time, Ivan Passer and Paul Gurian enlisted Eichhorn to play Mau (Mo) Cutter's Way (formerly Cutter and Bone) with Jeff Bridges and John Heard. The American Film Institute named Eichhorn's appearance as Alex Cutter's "most underrated role of the decade" and named her the Best Actress Award (American division) at the Deauville Film Festival.

In 1980, Eichhorn was cast opposite Gene Hackman in the low-budget Universal film All Night Long. Sue Mengers, Barbra Steffisand's then-agent, wanted a bigger outing for her husband, director Jean-Claude Tramont, and she advised him to replace Eichhorn with Stichhorn on film: three weeks into principal photography Eichhorn was barred from the project.

In the summer, Eichhorn travelled to Poland to shoot the CBS/TimeLife venture The Wall for Harry Sherman. In 1981, she went to Connecticut for the birth of her daughter, then returned to Los Angeles to play Margaret in The Hasty Heart opposite Kurt Russell. After one appearance, George Cukor returnedstage and told her she was like Greta Garbo.

Wildrose and Opposing Force in Los Angeles and East Lynne, with Martin Shaw, were among Eichhorn's film projects at this time, as well as The Weather in the Streets, which featured Michael York and Joanna Lumley for the BBC in London.

In 1984, Eichhorn appeared in Golden Boy at the Royal National Theatre in London. She appeared in The Common Pursuit in 1986 and then on All My Children for a year.

In 1988, Eichhorn was accepted to be a Life Member of the Actors Studio. She shot the film Moon 44 for Roland Emmerich in Germany and then began a fruitful association with the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, England, under the direction of Greg Hersov.

Eichhorn made her Broadway debut in 1990 at The Belasco Theatre in The Speed of Darkness, starring Len Cariou, Stephen Lang, and Robert Sean Leonard. In Any Given Day at the Longacre Theatre, she appeared alongside Sada Thompson and Justin Kirk, as well as Stanley Tucci in the film A Modern Affair.

Eichhorn returned to Los Angeles in 1996 for her daughter's high school experience. In two more Hersov-Finlayson collaborations in Manchester: Tobaccoland and Misfits, in which she appeared Marilyn Monroe, she appeared as Marilyn Monroe. She returned to New York in 2000 to do a variety of theatre, television, and teaching.

In 2003, Eichhorn returned to London to continue writing and producing. She returned to the Royal Exchange Manchester in 2004 to play Ouisa in Six Degrees of Separation, and she appeared in Joy Gresham opposite Julian Glover's C.S. Lewis in the Shadowlands at Salisbury Playhouse.

Eichhorn continues to live in London, where she works in theatre (Women of Lockerbie, Enduring Freedom) and television (Spooks, Midsomer Murders, Cracker), as well as several film projects.

Defenders of Riga, Eichhorn's official Latvian film entry to the 2009 Academy Awards, was produced and co-wrote by Eichhorn in 2007.

At the School of Visual Arts in New York, Eichhorn began teaching Acting and Directing in 1992. She has taught at the University of Southern California, Disney, DreamWorks, and London's National Film and Television Academy, as well as the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She has appeared at the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival, as well as taught in Milan, Kosovo, and Latvia under the auspices of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Visiting Artists Program.
