Before Fame
In 1977, he began serving with the Swedish National Police Board, where he attracted attention as a whistleblower comparing Prime Minister Olof Palme to a prostitution ring. He was suspended for his work and went on to lecture at Stockholm University. Based on his own experience, he wrote his first book in 1992.

He has received the Best Swedish Crime Novel Award many times, including for Samhallsbararna in 1982 and Den Doende Detektiven in 2010, according to the Swedish Crime Writers' Academy.
