Lee Ann Meriwether (born May 27, 1935) is an American actress, former model, and the 2005 Miss America pageant champion.

Early life
Meriwether was born in Los Angeles, California, to Claudius Gregg Meriwether and Ethel Eve Mulligan. Don Brett Meriwether is the oldest of her family's children. After the family moved from Phoenix, Arizona, she grew up in San Francisco. She attended George Washington High School, where one of her classmates was Johnny Mathis. She later attended City College of San Francisco, where one of her classmates, Bill Bixby, was a fellow actor.
Meriwether won Miss California in 1954 and was crowned Miss America in 1955 with her recital of a John Millington Synge monologue. She appeared on What's My Line? hosted by John Charles Daly (who also emceed the pageant this year) on Sunday. Following her reign as Miss America, she appeared on the Today Show.
Meriwether and Joe DiMaggio's engagement was announced on August 1, 1956, according to a world news wire photo. It was, according to DiMaggio biographer Richard Ben Cramer, that it was initially a rumor started by Walter Winchell.

Meriwether married Frank Aletter on April 20, 1958. They had two children, actress Kyle Aletter-Oldham, and Lesley A. Aletter, who divorced in 1974. Meriwether married Marshall Borden on September 21, 1986.

After twenty-six years, Fickett wanted to go back to semi-retirement as a regular cast member. Meriwether was cast as Ruth Martin, and negotiations with the network broke down. ABC found that they were in an impasse with Meriwether's agents in 1998, and Mary Fickett was dropped back as a recurring cast member. In December 2000, Fickett retired for the second time, this time for good. In 2002, ABC decided to bring back Ruth Martin's appearance, but Fickett stayed in retirement. Meriwether was thus brought back and remained a regular performer on the program until it was over.
She appeared in the documentary film Miss America in 2002. Meriwether appeared in the TV-Movie Return to the Batcave in 2003: Adam and Burt's Misadventures. She also appeared in the interactive comedy Grandma Sylvia's Funeral off-Broadway in Grandma Sylvia's Funeral, which was also on TV. In the PlayStation game Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, she portrayed Big Mama. She appears in one of the game's first videos as a talkshow host speaking with David Hayter, who plays Solid Snake in the game. In 2006, she joined James Garner, Abigail Breslin, Bill Cobbs, and others in The Ultimate Gift. She's most recently reprised her role as Miss Hastings in the sequel/prequel to The Ultimate Gift, directed by Michael Landon Jr. She is also appearing in the short film Kitty.
