On June 13, he made his senior international debut in the match against Singapore, leading Argentina to a 6–0 victory and his first international goal for the first time.

He was drafted in Argentina's preliminary 35-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia in May 2018, but did not make the final 23. Paredes was drafted into Lionel Scaloni's final 23-man Argentina squad for the 2019 Copa América on May 21, 2019. Paredes was voted into the "Best XI" team of the tournament after Argentina's third-place appearance.

In June 2021, he was included in Lionel Scaloni's final Argentina 28-man squad for the 2021 Copa América. Argentina faced Colombia in the semi-finals of the tournament, and the game turned into a penalty shootout in which Paredes converted his spot-kick to help Argentina progress to the final.

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 8, 2024
Brighton's humiliating four-goal loss at Roma has been branded a 'rude awakening,' according to Roberto De Zerbi, who is still struggling to become regulars in European competition. The Brighton head coach disputed the allegations on the grounds that injuries had left them depleted. However, he sent owner Tony Bloom an email regarding aspiration and the fact that the team must be bolstered to keep the team at this level. 'We're going to lose three games a week with 15-16 players available,' De Zerbi said. You're running on empty after finding the confidence to rotate the squad in the Premier League and another 90 in the Europa League.' It's a rude awakening.' We were all hoping for a different match, a different result, and a different standard of football. The thing that irritates us the most is that we were unable to express ourselves.
