Furious North Dakotans slam Theodore Roosevelt National Park's plan to catch or cull TWO HUNDRED-strong wild horse herd linked to Native American leader Sitting Bull amid fears for ecosystem

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 5, 2024
The wild horses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota could be relocated under a National Park Service initiative, much to advocate's annoyance and commotion. Under a 1978 environmental survey, the department intends to reduce the population of roughly 200 horses to between 35 and 60. Three options are on the table: reduce the horse population quickly, reduce it gradually, or take no immediate action. The herd is thought to have links to Sitting Bull, the herd's chief in Hunkpapa Lakota, and locals fear its removal could jeopardize both industry and tourism.

During ATV's federal round-up in Nevada that has killed 24 of the horses in the last month, a shocking video shows wild horses being tied and pulled by ATV

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 31, 2024
As the Bureau of Land Management attempts to remove horses from public lands, footage shows them being pulled through the dirt and dodging helicopters, resulting in 24 deaths as of January 29. The troubling videos were released during the BLM's launch of the East Pershing Wild Horse Gathering on December 28. The department intends to 'prevent undue or unnecessary degradation' from public lands and reclaim a flourishing natural ecological balance and multi-use relationships.' However, advocates claim that the government is simply acting in the interests of cattle ranchers, and that the corporation contracted to round up the horses has been accused of cruelty.
