Aahoo Jahansouz "Sarah" Shahi, an Iranian-American television actress and former NFL Cheerleader of Iranian and Spanish descentstry, was born January 10, 1980.

Carmen On The L Word in 2008, she appeared in the USA Network legal drama Fairly Legal in 2011–12, and she also appeared on CBS Crime drama Person of Concern as Sameen Shaw.

She has also appeared in Det's main female role.

Early life

Sarah Shahi was born in Aahoo, Texas, United States, on January 10, 1980. She was raised in Euless, Texas, United States, by Abbas Jahansouzshahi and Mahmonir Soroushazar, an interior designer who divorced when she was ten years old. Her father is from Iran. Her father's family left Iran two years before the Iranian Revolution. When the previous Shah's reign fell in 1979, her father, who was stationed at the American embassy in Iran, was slated for execution, but she was able to flee the country. Her mother was born in Spain, to an Iranian father and a Spanish mother. Shahi has an older brother, Cyrus, and Samantha, a younger sister who works as a production assistant. In Persian, Aahoo (Persian: ) denotes 'gazelle.' Shahi adopted Sarah as her name in second grade after hearing a song called "Sarah" by other children because she was "tormented" by other children about her birth name, Aahoo. She grew up speaking Persian at her father's behest in comparison to English. At the age of eight, Shahi's parents began competing in beauty pageants. Shahi attended Trinity High School, where she was captain of the volleyball and basketball teams, and Southern Methodist University, majoring in English and Theater. During her time at SMU, she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. In 1997, Shahi took home the Miss Fort Worth pageant. Despite not having cheered before, she hoped to become an actress and joined the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (1999–2000) squad, aspiring to be an actor. She migrated to Los Angeles later this year.

Personal life

Howey, a retired Shahi actor, married in Las Vegas on February 7, 2009. During an at-home water birth in July 2009, she gave birth to their first child, a boy. She revealed she was pregnant with twins in January 2015. A daughter and son were born in March at a different home birth. In May 2020, Shahi and Howey filed for divorce. In January 2021, the couple's divorce was finalized.

Shahi began dating Australian actor Adam Demos, whom she first encountered on the set of Sex/Life in 2020.

Shahi learned karate in her youth, becoming a 1st dan black belt in Shorin-Ryu karate.

Shahi was sued by a former nanny of her children in 2016 for sexual assault and racial discrimination. Shahi was accused of mocking her Islamic fashion and fasting, according to the complaint. Shahi also accused sexual assault, with the nanny lewd picture of her nanny and grabbing her backside saying, "you have a flawless little butt."

Shahi encountered director Robert Altman, who pushed her to Hollywood, where she appeared in several series, including Alias, Dawson's Creek, Reba, and Supernatural, while appearing as an extra on the set of Dr. T and the Women in Texas. In 2005, she appeared on The L Word's supporting character role, DJ Carmen de la Pica Morales. After the fourth season, Shahi's two-year deal was not renewed, and her character had been written out.

Shahi was ranked 90 on the Maxim "Hot 100 of 2005" list, climbing to number 66 in 2006 and 36 in 2012. In October 2012, she appeared on the front page of Maxim's 2012 'TV's Hottest Girls' Issue. In 2007, she ranked No. 5 on the AfterEllen.com top 100.

Farah appeared in Sleeper Cell's second season and appeared in HBO's "Kennedy and Heidi" as Sonya Aragon, a stripper and college student who spends a weekend with Tony after a death in his family. Zoe, a scantily clad rich girl pursued by Chris Tucker's character, Detective Carter, was a minor role in Rush Hour 3 in 2007.

Dani Reese, a murder prosecutor who co-starred with Damian Lewis in the NBC series Life as a homicide detective, took on her first permanent role on a television series in 2007. The series lasted for two seasons.

Shahi landed the lead role in the USA Network pilot's Facing Kate in October 2009. Shahi began filming in November 2009. Kate Reed, a forensic mediator who is dissatisfied with the bureaucracy and injustice she witnesses in the legal system, was the subject of the series. Fairly Legal was later added to the series name. In November 2012, the show was cancelled after two seasons.

On NBC's show Chicago Fire in October 2012, Shahi was cast as a recurring love interest for Taylor Kinney's character Lt. Kelly Severide. She appeared in the repeating role of Sameen Shaw on Person of Concern, making her first appearance in the second season episode "Relevance," which aired in February 2013. Shahi will be added as a series regular for the third season, according to CBS President Nina Tassler in May 2013. In the 2012 action film Bullet to the Head, she played the daughter of Sylvester Stallone's character. Jason Momoa, co-star on this film, appeared in the 2014 film Road to Paloma. Shahi and the show's producers announced she will be on maternity leave following the episode on January 7, 2015.

Nancy Drew, the legendary detective, was portrayed as an iconic detective in a upcoming television series based on the books in February 2016. The series was cancelled in May 2016. Shahi appeared on Person of Concern in May again until June 21, 2016, the show's conclusion. In 2018, she appeared in the new TV series Reverie, but after one season, it was cancelled.

In 2019, Shahi appeared on Showtime's City on A Hill as a recurring character. Elizabeth Behnam, an investigator for the district attorney, was the prosecutor.

Shahi began filming Sex/Life, a Netflix series based on BB Easton's book "44 Chapters About 4 Men," in Toronto, Canada, in August. When she was confronted with an old flame and the freer days of her youth, Billie, a housewife struggling to remain devoted wife and mother. In the 2022 DCEU film Black Adam opposite Dwayne Johnson and Pierce Brosnan, she appeared as Isis.
