Kim Coles Life

Kim LaShaunda Coles (born January 11, 1962) is an American actress, comedian, and game show host.

Coles appeared on In Living Color from 1990-1991) and as Synclaire James-Jones on television sitcom Living Single, both of whom appeared on Fox (1993-1998).

In 2009, she was the host of BET's game show Pay It Off.

Early life

Coles was born in Brooklyn, New York City. Her father was the first Black dean of the Pratt Institute. She attended a private Lutheran academy but was largely quiet and studious until high school, when her sense of humor emerged. She graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School.

Personal life

Coles has been married twice, first to Aton Edwards from 1985 to 1995, then to Reggie Mckiver, a former SWAT police officer in the Dominican Republic from 2015 to 2019.

Coles has appeared on many television shows, including Frasier ("Dr." Mary Thomas), Six Feet Under, Celebrity Mole, Living Single, and The Geena Davis Show. She appeared as one of the hosts of It's Showtime at the Apollo early in her career. She was one of the original cast members of the sketch comedy film In Living Color, which premiered on the FOX network. She appeared on "In Living Color" after leaving "In Living Color" and received the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series. On UPN's One on One, she appeared as the mother of Spirit. Coles is a published author; her book I'm Free But It Will Cost You is published in 1998. Hyperion Books, 978-7868-8322-6.

Coles appeared on Celebrity Mole: Hawaii and was the first contestant to be disqualified. Kathy Griffin, the show's saboteur, was the winner, while Michael Boatman was the runner-up, and Erik von Detten was the runner-up. Coles appeared on the VH-1 reality show Celebrity Fit Club alongside other celebrities for a weight loss journey. She shed 24 pounds in total body fat after 16 weeks, dropping almost four percentage points in body fat, going from 34 percent to 36 percent. She did this with the support of her staff, "Ralphie's Angels." She lost 10.2% of her body weight, from 196 lbs.

Coles appeared on the second season of To Tell the Truth, a regular panelist. On two episodes of The View, she was also featured as a guest host. Coles appeared on In The Loop, a syndicated daytime television show on iVillage, alongside Apprentice winner Bill Rancic and fellow season one contestant Ereka Vetrini. She has recently joined the cast of ten Items or Less on TBS.

Pay it Off, a game show that is similar to Debt, ran for one season on BET on September 30, 2009. In 2010, she appeared on RuPaul's Drag Race for the first time. In late 2011, she appeared in an episode of TV One's "Life After" series.

Coles has also performed as a stand-up comedian, with some of her material dealing with her struggle with being overweight at times.
