Personal life
De León was born in Manila on September 1st, 1977, and she and her parents immigrated to Australia in 1978. She is the oldest of three children; Jennifer and Melanie, her two younger sisters, were born in Australia. The family spent the bulk of de León's childhood in Sydney.
She met Daniel Jones, her future husband, on April 30, 2000, when de León was 22 years old. Jones was a member of the Australian pop band Savage Garden at the time. The two celebrities were recognized at the 42nd Annual Television Week Logie Awards.
Jones proposed to De León at his 30th birthday party at the GPO Bar in Brisbane in 2003, after three years of dating. The surprise program shocked over a hundred attendees, including Jones' parents.
De León and Jones married on the Gold Coast in Queensland on October 9, 2005. Bora of Bora Couture designed de León's wedding dress, but one of de León's closest friends created a pearl set for the back of the gown and diamond pieces for the front. Jones wrote "Love Is Enough" for his bride.

Professional career
At an early age, De León began singing and dancing. She taught herself to play the guitar, sparking her parents to enroll her in The McDonald College, Sydney's finest performing arts academy. She was given both the Roberta Armstrong and Kelloggs Scholarships to study at the college, where she studied dance, drama, and singing for a number of years while doing professional auditions in her spare time.
De León attended the Australian College of Entertainment in Castle Hill, New South Wales. She also competed in the Australian television talent show New Faces, where she came third in the grand final, and appeared on numerous Australian television shows, including Heartbreak High, Ridgey Didge, Swap Shop, and At Home with John Mangos.
It was while she was attending a fundraiser for The McDonald College that de León was discovered by one of the Cameron MacIntosh company's directors. Miss Saigon and Rent, a Macintosh firm, performed her in two musicals in Australia. She remained with Rent (where she was Christine Anu's understudy for Mimi) and was dance captain for the musical until being cast in Hi-5 in 1998. "Jup-Jup," a puppet voiced originally by co-cast member Tim Harding, was featured on her show "Jup-Jup." Puzzles and Patterns, de León and Jup-Jup's segment of the show, sold and educated children on problem solving and mathematics.
De León resigned from Hi-5 in July 2007 to concentrate on raising Mikaylas. de León said she was still interested in television, but only if a chance existed in her then-home city of Sydney, so she could remain close to her family. De León was the first of Hi-5's original members to permanently leave Hi-5. In Hi-5, Sun Park has been upgraded to De León.
De León resides in Las Vegas as of 2018. When she was selling some homes in Surfers Paradise in November 2016, she said they might return to the Gold Coast one day.
