Jordan Zacharie Lukaku Menama Mokelenge (born 25 July 1994) is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a left back for Italian club Lazio and the Belgium national team.

His older brother, Romelu, is also a footballer and a Belgian international. Starting his professional career at R.S.C.

Anderlecht, he made nine appearances for the first team, before joining Oostende in 2013, where he became a regular player.

He was signed by S.S.

Lazio for €4 million in 2016.

Lukaku made his senior international debut for Belgium in 2015, and was part of their squad at UEFA Euro 2016.

Personal life

Lukaku was born in Antwerp. His father is Roger Lukaku, who played professional football and was capped at international level by Zaire. He has an older brother, Romelu Lukaku, who also progressed through the youth academy at Anderlecht. Their cousin Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo plays for Celtic.

While at the youth academy at Anderlecht, Jordan, along with Romelu, used to be picked by their father and took them to training every morning. Unlike his older brother, Jordan grew up supporting Arsenal. Around 2012, Jordan became a victim of fake profiling. It came after he was involved in a controversial circumstances, prompting angry response from social media.

In December 2014, Jordan Lukaku was charged with speeding and had his driving license revoked for fifteen days, as well as, being fined €600. The following month, his closest friend, Junior Malanda, was killed in a car crash. Three months later, he was charged with the same offence and was banned from driving for a year. He was given a final warning and told that if he did it again, he would be jailed. The following year, he was charged with the same offence for the third time and was banned from driving for fifteen months.

Club career

Despite Arsenal's best wishes, Jordan signed his first professional deal with the club, extending him until 2013.

Lukaku and his brother, who then left the team for Chelsea at the time), were first included in a senior matchday squad in Anderlecht's 2–1 triumph over AEK Athens, the season's only unused substitute. Anderlecht beat Zulte Waregem 2–1, and Lukaku later said after the match: "it was the best day of his life." Then started in a goalless Pro League game at Standard Liège on April 6; he made six appearances for his team, which won the league that season.

However, he did not play at all as they retained the position for the remainder of the campaign, but only made the bench twice. He missed out early in the season due to a stress fracture. Jordan had been linked with a loan transfer to an unidentified club in Ethiopisie, but he turned down the offer and was sent to the reserve team instead.

Anderlecht defeated Genk 1–0 at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium on July 21, 2013 as an 87th-minute replacement for Matas Suárez. However, Jordan expressed his desire to leave the club to play regular first team football after playing two games at the start of the season.

Lukaku left Anderlecht to join Oostende on loan until the end of the season, just a few weeks after playing in the Belgian Super Cup.

In a 1–0 loss against Lokeren on August 31, Lukaku made his Oostende debut, where he came on as a replacement in the second half and played 45 minutes. Lukaku has established himself as a regular in the first team even though he was in the reserve and in a match against Genk on November 23, 2013, he set up one of the goals. Lukaku's last game for the club came against Waasland-Beveren on January 25, 2014. Lukaku never made another appearance for the club again, as he suffered from a pubic illness that kept him out of the season. Despite this, Lukaku continued to make fifteen appearances in all competitions.

Lukaku joined Oostende on a permanent basis, with his deal coming to an end at Anderlecht at the end of the season. Lukaku's first game after signing for the club on a permanent basis came on August 1st, 2014, when the club's former team, Anderlecht, lost 22-0. Despite being on a few days, including his sending off against Gent on January 25, 2015, Lukaku maintained his place in the first team at Oostende. Lukaku made 30 appearances in all competitions during his first permanent season with the club.

Lukaku started the season right by scoring his first goal for the club in a 3–1 victory over Mechelen in the first game of the season, before being voted Team of the Week in a 2–1 victory over Westerlo. Lukaku continued to play in the first team until he was out of action from late-2015 due to injuries. Lukaku scored his second goal of the season on January 31, 2016, a 3-3 draw against Mouscron. Lukaku scored from his injury in a 2–1 victory over Genk on May 14, 2016, after returning from injury in early-May. Lukaku made thirty-four appearances and scoring three times in all competitions during his second season.

Lukaku is expected to leave the club in the summer, according to the club's president, who speculated that he might leave the club in the summer, who informed Italian club Lazio that he did not receive €1 million in performance-related compensation. Lukaku received a number six shirt on his first day with the club and was introduced to the club several days later.

Lukaku's debut in Lazio's 4–3 victory over Atalanta in the season's first game, where he made his first appearance and watched the entire game. He continued to play in the first team until he sustained an accident preventing him from returning to the team for a month. In a 1–0 victory over Palermo on Sunday, he didn't return from injury until November 27th, 2016; he came back as a replacement.

Lukaku came on as a late replacement in a 3–2 victory over Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico in 2017. He scored his first goal for the club on December 23, 2009, progressing from a Ciro Immobile pass to a 4–0 home victory over Crotone.

Lukaku did not play three games in any competition until a loan contract was agreed with English club Newcastle United on January 24. However, the contract was cancelled the next day after the Belgian reportedly failed a medical exam.

Lukaku had signed Belgian club Royal Antwerp F.C. on October 5, 2020, according to Lazio. On a one-year loan.

Lukaku was loaned out to Serie B club Vicenza until the end of the season on January 12, 2022.

Lukaku, a free agent, signed a deal with Spanish Segunda División's Ponferradina on August 26, 2022.

International career

Jordan refused to play for Belgium, Belgium U16, Belgium U18, and Belgium U19 after being a member of Belgium's Belgium U15, Belgium U18, and Belgium U19, instead opting for Belgium. It came after Lukaku was summoned by the national side in late-2011.

Lukaku was called by the senior team for the first team after his outstanding appearance at Oostende. Lukaku scored in a Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra on October 10, 2015, his senior debut for the national team. He replaced Guillaume Gillet in the 59th minute of a friendly away from Portugal in Tiria on March 29th, and sent him a cross that had been sent by his brother as consolation in a 2–1 loss.

Lukaku was selected for the Euro 2016 squad after being selected for a 24-man preliminary squad, wearing shirt number 21. In Belgium's 3–1 quarterfinal loss to Wales, he made one appearance in the tournament, playing 75 minutes in place of the injured Jan Vertonghen.

He was selected in Belgium's preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia in May 2018. However, he did not make it to the final 23.
