Jonathan Rhys Meyers Life

Jonathan Rhys Meyers (born Jonathan Michael O'Keeffe, 27 July 1977) is an Irish actor.

He is best known for his appearances in the films Velvet Goldmine (1998), Bend It Like Beckham (2002), Match Point (2005), Impossible III (2004), and in the historical drama The Tudors (2007–10).

Meyers appeared in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, based on Cassandra Clare's book City of Bones, as the villain Valentine Morgenstern.

He appeared in the NBC drama series Dracula (2013–14) as the title character, as well as in Roland Emmerich's 2015 film Stonewall.

Early life

Meyers was born in Dublin, Ireland, on July 27th, 1977, the first of four boys for Geraldine (née Myers, 1957-2007) and folk singer John O'Keeffe, and he was brought up in County Cork. His family is Catholic, and his three younger brothers are professional musicians. He attended North Monastery Christian Brothers School.

He spent a substantial portion of his time in pool halls after being barred from North Monastery for truancy. Casting agents looking for Irish boys to appear in War of the Buttons discovered him at a Cork pool hall, the Victoria Sporting Club, and invited him to audition. Despite being postponed for the Battle of the Buttons, the casting agents encouraged him to pursue a career in acting.

Personal life

Rhys Meyers dated Toni Collette, his Velvet Goldmine co-star, for a year in the late 1990s.

He was in a friendship with Reena Hammer, the daughter of makeup artist Ruby Hammer, from 2004 to 2012.

Mary Geraldine "Geri" O'Keeffe's mother died at Mercy University Hospital, Cork, aged 51, after a brief, undisclosed illness.

It was announced on June 30th that he was admitted by ambulance after a suspected suicide attempt.

In 2016, he attempted suicide for the second time. He was discovered slumped on the ground after paracops responding to an emergency call. Since he refused medical attention at the hospital for more than 30 minutes, they called police. Mara Lane was married later in 2016. Wolf Rhys Meyers Meyers' son was born in December 2016. Lane admitted in September 2017 that she had miscarried a second child.

Rhys Meyers praised his family and fatherhood in particular for making him the happiest he's ever been: "Once you have your first child, you are the past." We're all busy giving out to ourselves and pushing ourselves forward. A child gives you a fresh perspective on life."

He listed his Nichols Canyon Los Angeles home for auction in 2022. The home, which is located in the Hollywood Hills, had been listed for purchase and was made available as a rental property until 2012 when it was listed for $1.6 million, and then again in 2018 it was auctioned for $1.795 million. The home is listed on the new website for $1.85 million.

Meyers had entered an alcohol-treatment program in 2007, according to Rhys Meyers' representative, Meredith O'Sullivan.

He was arrested at Dublin Airport in November 2007 for intoxication and disturbing the peace.

He was arrested in Paris by French police in 2009 for allegedly assaulting an airport lounge employee while inebriated.

He verbally abused and used racist words against airline employees and officials, who had refused him entry to the boarding area after being inebriated in the first-class lounge in 2010. As a result, United Airlines had barred him from flying.

Meyers' rep confirmed that he was getting medical attention again in 2010. He was ordered by a French court to pay restitution of €1,000 and was given a suspended term for public intoxication 24 months earlier.

Rhys Meyers relapsed at Dublin Airport after his wife suffered a miscarriage in 2017.

He broke his sobriety on a flight, resulting in a fight with his wife at Los Angeles International Airport in 2018. Meyers addressed the incident in a Larry King interview later this year, saying, "...... errand you can relate." I should not drink alcohol. It doesn't look good on me, and it's been sober for a long time." He maintained that he had learned his lesson and was now sober.

In November 2020, Rhys Meyers crashed his car in Malibu, California. After a field test was conducted and he was charged with two inebriated driving charges, responding police discovered he was intoxicated. According to court papers obtained by TMZ, he was fined $500 and a promise to attend alcohol and counseling services as part of his court participation agreement. He was also ordered to complete a 12-month summary probation with no jail time if he did not break the rules during that time.

People feared her, according to Keira Knightley, "Bend It Like Beckham" would be a "Embarrassing" flop

www.popsugar.co.uk, March 17, 2023
"Bend It Like Beckham" may be a classic football film, but Keira Knightley claims that no one warned her about it at the start. Host Jimmy Fallon, a "Boston Strangler" actor, said on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Sunday, it's been more than 20 years since the film's debut on "Boston Strangler." "No," Knightley asked if she had always wanted the film, directed by Gurinder Chadha, to be regarded and adored. No, no, I mean, I literally remember telling people that I was doing it and then, 'Bend It Like Beckham,'" and they're going to say, "Oh, that's really sad." "Yes, sure, no, they were all like that," says the narrator. It's fine,'" she continued, "no one will know it." "But it was the thought of it," Knightley explained, "because you know women's football was not as popular back then." "The whole thing was kind of ridiculous, and it's amazing, because it's still the film, and you know it's the one you should talk to about my work." It's so cute, it's amazing."
