John Strong Life

John Strong, the lead Major League soccer voice for Fox Sports, is an American television play-by-play broadcaster.

His work has appeared on NBC, FOX, and ESPN among other networks.

Strong is a former radio presenter on 750-AM "The Game" in Portland, Oregon, and he was the radio and television play-by-play announcer for the Portland Timbers Major League Soccer team.

For FOX, John Strong is the voice of US Soccer.

Personal life

Strong is married to Nicole Strong, a former Washington State University soccer player who captained the Women's Premier Soccer League in 2011 in goals scored. She served on the Central Catholic High School girls' soccer team for a time and was named Mt. Since winning a league championship in 2012, Hood Conference Coach of the Year was voted Coach of the Year.

Broadcasting career

Strong began his radio career at Lake Oswego High School, where he founded Laker Broadcasting. Strong began producing audio recordings of LOHS football and basketball games in 2002.

Strong served at 750 KXL in Portland and was active at KWVA, Oregon's campus station. Strong continued his play-by-play duties by broadcasting University of Oregon women's soccer, softball, and women's lacrosse. In 2005-06, he served as the Eugene Generals Junior Hockey team's play-by-play voice.

Strong's first full-time broadcasting gig came from KXL radio in Portland, and later, 750 AM "The Game" in 2008. Strong produced "The Bald Faced Truth" radio show and also hosted "Strong at Night," the station's daily evening radio show.

Strong was the play-by-play announcer for the Portland Timbers in 2010, and he became the regular play-by-play announcer for Timbers broadcasts on FSN Northwest in 2011. He appeared on Fox Soccer's Europa League games, most notably the 2013 UEFA Europa League Finals between Chelsea and Benfica. He went to NBC Sports to cover Major League Soccer and Premier League football from 2012 to 2013. Strong was moving full-time to Fox Sports to lead Major League Soccer and Women's World Cup coverage after NBC's loss of Major League Soccer coverage to Fox Sports in 2014. When he wasn't obligated to his NBC work, Strong was still working part-time for Fox. Strong began to appear as the primary play-by-play voice for the majority of United States national soccer team matches broadcast on Fox/Fox Sports 1, as a result of a new television agreement between U.S. Soccer, Fox Sports, and ESPN/ABC. Brad Friedel was brought on as the lead color commentator for these matches. The 2018 FIFA World Cup's lead color commentator Stuart Holden appeared on Fox, as well as the final.
