Months of planning had resulted in this moment. Months of cajoling designers, models, resp., and style watchers, have all lent their help - and money - to a hitherto unintentional venture: a show that exhibits the best of British fashion under one roof. Or, rather, one square of canvas. I felt a surge of pride and pure excitement as I watched the last touches being applied to the huge tent that would host the first ever London Fashion Week. I knew some of these people had been skeptical, but as I stood at the back of this amazing new space, I hoped that this would be the start of something amazing.

For the most part, the prediction refers to communities in Arizona, Nevada, and a swath of California (pictured), where more than 110 million people are under heat advisories. It's a continuation of triple-digit temperatures that came to a close last week - slamming cities such as Phoenix with temperatures that hit 118 degrees and others, like Vegas and Fresno, with heat that was just a few degrees cooler. According to National Weather Service reports, the weather - which meteorologists warn is even worse for the area - is forecast to grow. As a result, areas of the Desert Southwest will easily be in the 110s and even 120s in some regions on Sunday afternoon, putting approximately a quarter of the entire American population in danger.

The National Weather Service warned that blistering weather would persist in the central and southern areas of the state, where many people should brace for the year's hottest weather. Meteorologists predict the phenomenon will persist through a large portion of the month, with scorching metros in Arizona, Nevada, and California destroyed. Midday temperatures were forecast to hit 100 degrees, with desert areas such as California's Death Valley likely hitting a scorching 130 by Sunday, according to forecasters.
