Career

Boykins is a world soul artist born in Jamaica, who later moved to Miami and then Brooklyn. My Life On My Back EP was released on February 14, 2008, and his sequel, The Beauty Created LP, was released November 25, 2008 through NomaDic MuSic.

When he joined his school choir at the age of nine, his musical career began at the age of nine. He soon began performing around Miami and discovered himself recording with various local Miami artists. Boykins, a senior, had been invited to perform in the Grammy Jazz Ensemble and had produced an album with them.

He was accepted to The New School University in New York City after high school. He honed his craft as a writer, performer, arranger, and producer at The New School, as well as a vocalist. He also worked with classical guitarist Kamal Scott and Universal recording artist Bilal.

Boykins revealed that he was signed to Def Jam Recordings in November 2017. Bartholomew's first album under his major label contract was a physical printout of his mixtape Bartholomew, which was previously only available on SoundCloud in 2016. Jesse received his first Grammy Award for co-writing Steve Lacy's lead single Playground from his ApolloXXI album.
