Jennette McCurdy (born June 26, 1992) is an American actress, YouTuber, producer, and writer.
Sam Puckett is known for her appearance on Nickelodeon's iCarly and its spin-off series Sam & Cat.

Early life
McCurdy was born in Garden Grove, California, in a very poor Mormon family, but she left the faith in her early adulthood. Debra McCurdy, her mother, and her three older brothers were home-schooled. Mark McCurdy, the man she grew up with, worked two jobs. McCurdy found that she was not his child after Debra's death.
Personal life
She has referred to her close friendship with her violent mother as "the heartbeat of my life." When McCurdy was two to three years old, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent several surgeries, chemotherapy, and a bone marrow transplant. Her mother's cancer returned in 2010, and McCurdy died in 2013; McCurdy was 21 years old.
McCurdy has admitted that her mother emotionally and sexually assaulted her. "My mother's emotions were so erratic that it was like walking a tightrope every day," she said in a People magazine interview. According to McCurdy, her mother pushed her into acting as she was six years old to both financially assist her family and because her mother wanted to become a performer herself. She said that her mother was "obsessed with making [her] a celebrity" and that she contributed to her eating disorder by limiting her calorie restriction at age 11. She also revealed that until she was 16 or 17 years old, her mother conducted vaginal and breast exams on her, ostensibly as a cancer screening, but never let her shower alone. McCurdy said she did not attend the revival of iCarly because of the reminder of her mother's violence on the original show, as well as the fact that she appeared in the spin-off series Sam & Cat to please her mother. McCurdy explained in an interview that she did not receive any of her compensation from being a juvenile because her Coogan account was not properly registered.
McCurdy's book I'm Glad My Mama Died – the front cover of which includes McCurdy's appearance and confetti spilling out – was further describing her mother's bullying and governing power.

I'm Glad My Mom Died, McCurdy's 2022 memoir, she recounts incidents on television, including when she was photographed in a bikini at a fashion preview and being encouraged to drink alcohol while under age by a person she described as "the Creator." After Sam & Cat's cancellation, Nickelodeon later offered her $300,000 to agree not to write about her network experience, which she declined.
McCurdy's online show What's Next for Sarah debuted on August 13, 2014. She served as both the star of the film and the script editor, as well as duties as executive producer and editor.
