Osment's journey into the entertainment industry began in 1997, when she was cast in a commercial for flower delivery firm FTD. After making her acting debut in Eugene Levy and Linda Hamilton's 1999 film The Secret Life of Girls, she appeared in several commercials. Sarah, Plain and Tall: Winter's Conclusion, her co-star in the Hallmark Classic television film Sarah, Plain and Tall, a role that would result in a Young Artist Award nomination. Emily also appeared in a Smash Mouth music video as the girl in the referee uniform. Since then, she has appeared on television shows such as Touched by an Angel, Friends, and 3rd Rock from the Sun. She played Tara Sparkler in the series Goosebumps in another small screen role. According to Deadline, CBS has officially ordered a spinoff from the hit sitcom series Young Sheldon centered on Georgie Cooper and Mandy McAllister's lives. The upcoming project will follow the two characters, played by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, respectively, as they begin a family in Texas and deal with the trials and tribulations of parenthood. Young Sheldon's program, which is set to end later this year, was co-created by Chuck Lorre and its predecessor, The Big Bang Theory.
