Jeffrey Carlson (born June 23, 1975) is an American, Broadway, film, television, and singer best known for his role as the transgender Zarf/Zoe in the long-running daytime soap opera All My Children.

Education

Carlson was born in Long Beach, California. Jeffrey was named Jeffrey by his mother because she was a fan of All My Children and the appearance of Jeff Martin on the program. He studied at the University of California Davis, where he earned his B.A. in 1997. In dramatic art. Carlson spent time at Juilliard School in New York City as a member of the Drama Division's Group 30 (1997–2001).

Carlson appeared on Broadway in Edward Albee's The Goat or Who is Sylvia? In 2002, she appeared in Tartuffe's Broadway revival in 2003. He appeared in the short-lived Boy George Broadway musical Taboo in 2003 and 2004. For the role of Marilyn in Taboo, he was nominated for the 2004 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical. He appeared as Egon in Will Smith's romantic comedy Hitch in 2005. In August 2006, Zarf, a British rock star, appeared on All My Children in a daytime role. He returned to the role in late November 2006. Zarf was revealed to be a transgender woman named Zoe, who also happened to be a lesbian during the course of the storyline. In 2007, All My Children received a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Daily Drama for this storyline. He appeared in Lorenzaccio at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., and performed Hamlet in June 2008.

Jeffrey Carlson, an All My Children actor who was known for his pioneering role as a trans character on the soap show, has apparently died. He was 48 years old. Long Beach, California native Terry Jones had been on the daytime TV show since 2006. Time Out New York theater editor Adam Feldman revealed the news on Twitter.
